Science: the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation, experimentation, and the testing of theories against the evidence obtained:
Correct.

Not science: using the word “science” in order to assert that one’s ideas and authority should not be doubted or questioned and that one need not employ risk management nor consider any unintended consequences.

As with everything science has become corrupted with politics and political agendas. With the exception of hard science IE: The engineering aspect where what you invent has to demonstrate that it works, I look at all other science with extreme skepticism at best.

I would suggest that actual scientific method, is based upon scepticism.

Whereas it's easy to loose track and descend into the realms of conspiracy theory and sci-fi.

Yep, that's a truism for sure.

And if the scientific method is ignored, then like I suggested, the result is conspiracy theory and sci-fi.

"And if the scientific method is ignored"  > You get so called scientists who say things like "The science is settled" and "There is a consensus among scientists"  or "96% of all scientists agree" and my favorite  "Nameless experts saying studies show"

And of course, scientists will theorise or produce statistics on the basis of how much they are being paid and by whom.

So we make decisions based upon...that which influences us the most.

Yes, all the reasons I have given and yours to be highly skeptical of all modern science.

Trial and error is science of what works and doesnt work.

This begins in childhood learning about gravity, Stand fall, stand fall, stand fall....what the heck is going on here.

Perhaps it is conspiracy by parents to keep children from running off getting into trouble that the parents then have to deal with.

Thank God for science of Gravity.

A key principle of science is to seek "repeatable facts," meaning that scientific findings should be able to be reproduced consistently through repeated experiments conducted by different researchers under similar conditions, ensuring the validity and reliability of the results.

I thought teaching children balance prevents them from falling. Gravity is an invisible force.

Is there anything that exists without atoms?
Well most of the things out there are not made of atoms. All fundamental particles electrons, quarks, neutrinos, gluons, bosons etc are not made of made of atoms, but it's rather the other way around. Dark matter and dark energy are still a great mystery, no one knows what those are made up of.

Science's earliest roots can be traced to Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia around 3000 to 1200 BCE.

When did science discover atoms?
1827
The first truly direct evidence of atoms is credited to Robert Brown, a Scottish botanist. In 1827, he noticed that tiny pollen grains suspended in still water moved about in complex paths.

I think that children have an inherent knack, that takes a while to develop.

Gravity just means that we live on the floor rather than the ceiling.

Good one Zed.

Comb jellies the oldest { LINK } > sponges came next > dino's appeared > avians flew higher and higher

Four leg crawlers > two leg bipeds > some climbed higher > some flopped back to Earth

Meta-space mind > outer limits of space > orbit around > then flop back to Earth

Voyager is gone { 1977 } > never coming back { interstellar } > Meta-space mind > keeps coming back

Children must find it silly that adults go mountain climbing knowing Gravity works against them.

You got it backwards.
