I think you misinterpreted my PM. I sent you two, one labeled "assuming my zones are 1-5" and one labeled "assuming my zones are 6-10". It looks like you read the wrong one. They were both basically the same but reversed.

You are right, I used the second list.

OK, I have just had an urgent request to pick up some equipment in the suburbs.  I suddenly need to be driving for a couple of hours.

I will correct ROUND1 and ask you both to submit ROUND 2 again when I get back

No rush lol, thanks for volunteering to host anyway.

Btw I finished my planning for the 1v1v1, had a few things I had to figure out like whether to give partial points for 2nd place in each zone etc. If youwant I can start one with you supa and either pie or RM as the third.

this game is stupid, the only way to maintain an advantage is to play to not have one and hope your enemy screws up, this is genuinely irritating.

My strategy was to focus on zones that seemed least secure and avoid wasting resources as much as possible by using analysis aided by punnett squares.

Obviously it is impossible to play perfectly but where specifically do you think my play was sub-optimal?

I didn't say it was. I said you played optimally and optimal in this game is to play to tie, not to win which is a fundamentally boring style of game, there's other games rooted in that idea and I don't like them. I like games where you have some kind of initial 'flavour' advantage and disadvantage and by default the pressure to push your advantage comes throughout.

I surrender, he's won. My zone 8 move lost me the game because I anticipated an attack.

This game is just boring honestly for me. I know how to do it, you basically just secure everything to +3 initially, every time in a rigid manner. You  do this if in my zone position:

0,0,0,3,4,2,1,0,0,0

Then, any time the enemy pushed your +3 into a +1 or at any time they attack elsewhere that's below +3 on their side, you tie it, all game long, as much as you can. Then, by the time it's 5-4 left, if they played perfect, just split  in a way that forces a tie.

not really and I actually think it's the 1v1 dynamic that makes it so passively toxic. I'm interested in the 1v1v1 but never want to 1v1 on that again unless someone who promises not to mimic my system thinks they can beat it.

I did not stick to it rigidly this time because I wanted to bait and beat him but it failed

I suspect you have seen one before and understand the concept but have not heard the name:

My step-by-step approach is:

1) Look for any place that was +1 for opponent. I can easily place 2 there knowing neither are wasted.

2) Look for any place that is tied. I can easily place 1 there knowing it is not wasted.

The above two steps guarantee 100% efficiency. After that deciding what to do with the leftover is more subjective, though as a rule you should ignore zones that are relatively secure for you and ones that are relatively secure for your opponent.

player one is Xs
player two is Os
15 pawns been played for you
that's the way it goes

you will each deploy FiFTY-FiVE more pawns over the course of the game

Deployment rules are:

1) You can place armies on any of the ten zones.

2) It IS permitted to place zero armies on a certain zone for a round.

2) Once placed, no armies can be moved between zones

3) Both players are allowed to see the new board after each round

4) Ten armies are placed by each player during round one. Nine are places during round two, eight during round three and so on.

5) IMPORTANT - Final winner is determined ONLY by number of zones controlled after final round. Zones controlled between any other rounds are IRRELEVANT for final victory score.
You each have TEN pawns to deploy for round one. You each have FOURTY-FIVE pawns that can't be deployed this round but can be deployed in subsequent rounds.
