Anything's possible.

But mostly unlikely.

And "fuck up" is a subjective comparison relative to a subjective expectation.

And the organic fluff that coats this microscopic bit of universal dust.......Means what actually?

And where's GOD got to?.....Old Mr OMNISENSIBLE.

You know that without matter there would be no consciousness, don't you? Consciousness is only in the brain and the brain is made of matter.

It could be said that consciousness is what occurs within, but separate from the brain.

Which might imply that consciousness could perhaps exceed the mass.

That is not to overlook the process that generates consciousness...... And it's associated energy requirements.

A grey area maybe.

It's entirely contingent on what reality is at the core.

If reality is a simulation, janesix is correct; if reality is physical, zedvictor4 is correct.

The ultimate question is also, if duality is occurring (that both consciousness and physicality are realms that aren't within but beside each other), then reality may be even more mysterious.

I lean towards Janesix's side of things because from a computing perspective, ignoring the physicality of microchips and motherboards, it is much more viable to simulate 'everything spawning out of nothing with some arbitary laws of physics and chemistry to seem sensible' than it is to first have that reality physically there and then cause concious experience within the simulated characters afterwards.

If simulating a character in fact automatically necessitates consciousness there is something even more disturbing at play because that means every character that suffers in videogames is actually really experiencing said agony.

The distance to travel is not nearly so important as traveling well and properly. More distance; more experience.

Zed, think of the brain as more of a conductor, conduit or a component that regulates and confines consciousness like electricity is harnessed and regulated for the use of powering that which it occupies. People are hung up on the idea that the brain creates consciousness because of the misconception of being able to "measure activity" through the brain. But that is only because of the presence of consciousness, in the same way we can measure electrical current through any electrical component because of the presence of electricity.

The brain though...is only responsible for confining your conscious experience to a physical body so that you have a vessel that can interact within this world but brains don't actually create your consciousness. You are first a conscious being (soul).....not a series of impulses and neural firing. Just like energy and electricity, consciousness exists independent of form as well as within form. If you accept that energy is neither created nor destroyed, exists both within form and independent of form simply apply that same principle to consciousness and you have completed much of the puzzle.

Awareness cannot be created, it is not a phenomenon that can be fabricated it can only be transferred from one thing to another. It exists as a reality all on its own (we call that Reality God, the first Cause), basically just like energy. Wherever you have energy you have awareness and wherever there is awareness you have energy, they co-exist. Awareness is the very fabric and backdrop of the universe and all that exists.
Speculating that a brain can create conscious beings has been the greatest hoax mankind has ever faced, it robs man of the very foundation of what he is. In this particular world it is imperative though that most humans forget who and what they are for the experience of having a fresh, unique dumbed downed observation.

See:  Evolutionary aspects of self- and world consciousness in vertebrates

We conclude that basic aspects of consciousness like primary self and core self (based on anoetic and noetic consciousness) are present in many species of vertebrates and that, even self-consciousness (autonoetic consciousness) does not seem to be a prerogative of humans and of some non-human primates but may, to a certain extent, be present in some other mammals and birds.

God created us to do good I think that's the point.
There seem to be some major design flaws.

Perhaps god is incompetent.

False.  Consciousness, to varying degrees is:

1} what all nervous system biologics experience, to various degrees of awareness { physiology },

2} access to Meta-space, mind/intellect/concepts and having ego/identity is a seperate issue, from that of consciousness only i.e.  Meta-space access is associated mostly with more complex humans --- woman being most complex biologic we know of---,  and to other less complex animals to lesser and lesser degree.

Perhaps god is incompetent.

"competent" is qualia { human judgement or purpose etc },  not quantum experience ie. God/Universe does not judge competence.  Only humans do that.

Universe/God is cause > effect > resultant determination.  The religious fundamentalist are ignorant of these rather simple, rational, logical common sense conclusions, as truth.

They are not interested in truth.  Like trumpeteers, they only interested in their beliefs, that feed their ego/identity as ..I am somebody..., or I am free to as I choose, irrespective of consequences or how my actions may  be detremental to other humans, and or the ecological environment that sustains humans on Earth.

Or maybe this universe was God's senior project for his God license. And because it was so poorly designed, he flunked out of God school. I think it probably was the pediatric cancer.

You do realise how ridiculous your sarcasm is in these scenarios?

You assume that God's standards for creation need to be to save everyone and bring joy to them too. Even the religious make the same error that you do very often.

God doesn't give a shit about our agony, both our pleasure and pain cause interesting scenarios for this entity to sit and watch unfold, that is the only reason we exist with the ability to process pleasure and pain.

life is what you make of it, there is no point other than what you make of it. If you don't make anything of your life and just consume resources and take up space, your life is pointless. God has nothing to do with it. You were created, that's where gods involvement ends. The rest is up to you.

Begging the question. You are presupposing a point to everything.
