Greetings DebateArt!

Today is the first stage of the Hall of Fame process. This stage will last from now until August 8th, at 10:30PM CST. A few reminders about the Hall of Fame.

  • Mass PM threads, campaigning, and coordinating votes is prohibited. If any votes are found to be correlated, the votes will be nullified
  • You can vote for anyone you would like (as long as isn't an excessively bad choice (someone permabanned)), but do note that moderation has the right to nullify any thread, user, or debate if believed to be working in coordination with people to obtain votes
  • Self voting is allowed, though it gives you a bad look as it goes against the integrity of the Hall of Fame
For the nomination stage, you can nominate 3 users, 3 threads, and 3 debates to be nominated and put into the Hall of Fame! If the votes are relatively close, we will choose 4-6 nominees per category and proceed to the voting stage.

In addition, you may select miscellaneous things as well (things that don't fit either category)

Good luck,
SupaDudz

I'll start off with some of my nominations at this time. This year was tough for me to choose who'd I nominate and I still can't decide who I would choose. I want everyone to know that everyone is important to the site, but I am nominating people who have made an exceptional impact on this site and deserve recognition for it

Users
MisterChris:
MisterChris has been slowly contributing a lot to the site. From him becoming vote mod in 2019, he has been consistently active in the forums, has started playing mafia, while also maintaining a top 3 spot on the Debate leaderboard behind already Hall of Fame member Oromagi and former DART Mod Ragnar. He was probably due to be in it this year even without his promotion to head moderator.

fauxlaw:
Fauxlaw has proven to be an active contributor to the site as a whole. He has leveled a ton of votes on debates, has been active in every category of the forum, and has still managed to be 7th in the leaderboard while doing all of that. Fauxlaw definitely contributes a lot to the site.

I am still choosing my 3rd option, to which I have some ideas, but it is a very tough choice

Threads
An extremely relevant thread for 2020 George Floyd protests. Discuss various topics regarding police brutality, excessive police force, riots. It continued to stay relevant either after posted for countless months

This should’ve been in last year. Any mafia game that reaches 1,000 posts is instantly considered an iconic game.

Interesting conversations about whether or not Trump should be sent to jail for his insurrection of the Capital Riots that happened on Jan 6th.

@Vader
I'll do just one nomination for users and debates, come back and do the rest later.

Users
MisterChris
I think this is pretty self-explanatory. MisterChris has been a substantial contributor to the site, including providing some of the best debates in recent memory, but he's also stepped up into a moderation role and has worked had to improve the site. I think he deserves recognition.

Debates
I promised I'd nominate this one when I judged it. Gave a long RFD (though certainly not my longest) for this, and looking back, I still wrestle with the decision, which is either a sign of a confusing round or a really good one. This easily falls into the latter category. Both debaters displayed their best work here, and while I strongly considered a later live debate between them (still might nominate it, though I want to distribute the love a bit), I think this is some of the best work each debater has produced, and I feel this was a very even matchup that could easily have been the final round of this tournament.

User nominations:
Undefeatable, for his rapid ascent to the top 5
Fruit_inspector, for the greatest upset in DART history
Fauxlaw, for always putting 110% into every debate even if the person is a full forfeit.

This HOF is meaningless. Too many nominations with this small pool of people. On top of that, judging by the previous votes, people are mostly voting in an idiotic way.

I am just voting for people I like

I nominate the following:

USERS

  • Theweakeredge - has contributed an insane amount of content to DART within the short time he has been with us, rocketing within the top 10 on the debate leaderboard and becoming the user with the largest post/like ratio by a landslide.
  • Fauxlaw - despite throwing the occasional temper tantrum, he is a massive contributor worthy of a place within the HoF.
  • Whiteflame - A high contributor overall, and has been consistently the most respected voter and the de facto "debate coach" of the debate community on DART for a good time now. He is also taking up the mantle in a voting mod position and he's someone I highly respect as an individual. Whiteflame is a no brainer for the HoF in my view.
DEBATES

I'm nominating
I know, I know. "Why are you nominating your own debates?" I get it. However, this is the debate I am most proud of because it was probably one of my best performances period. Undefeatable put in a valiant effort on a difficult topic and it ultimately was (imo) his best work as well. To top it off, this was the longest RFD Whiteflame has ever done. Definitely one of the best debates I've been able to participate in. If I had more slots available I'd want to nominate one of my debates with Speed as well but like Whiteflame said, gotta "spread the love."

I mean, you all knew this was coming, right? Biggest upset in DART history between two talented debaters. Nuff said.

When you're dealing with these two you know the debate will be top quality. One that is live as well is especially notable.

FORUM THREADS

Not certain yet. Will update this later when I know what to nominate.

Adding to my previous vote:

Users

Ramshutu
Though he's not as active as he once was, his role as both a prolific voter and debater were integral to build up the site, and his part in moderation also deserves some recognition. Kind of surprised he hasn't come up again since just missing out on an HoF spot in the first round of voting, actually.

Debates

Resolved: Developing countries should prioritize environmental protection over resource extraction when the two are in conflict.
Yes, it's one of mine. Had a tough time choosing between this one and my most recent one with David, both of which I enjoyed immensely (and the feedback David and I got from actual lawyers after the debate was incredible). That being said, I have to side with this one, a debate I felt was too close to call after we finished. Blamonkey is an excellent debater and I deeply enjoyed covering this topic with him.

Speedrace
He was my pick last year and while not as active as he once was, I believe he has made several contributions to the site that can't be overlooked

My nominations for users:

Whiteflame- potentially the best debater on the site. I have had the pleasure of discussing a great many issues with him over the years and gained a lot of insight from them. Busted my rear end in both of the great debates I had with him. I'm honestly surprised he isn't in the HoF yet- he deserves it.

Thett3- he's a cool fella, what can I say?

I don't feel super strong about any others at the moment, mainly because I haven't been as active lately and don't know enough about them. I'll reserve my third vote for the end to see how the votes are adding up.
