That is the problem. Being able to pee in it is a part of the art, or should be. Imagine looking at a cake and not being able to eat it, then imagine millions of millionaires buy a CAKE only to look at it and not eat it. It loses its purpose.

The Mona Lisa is for looking. A urinal is for peeing. As much as it is a sculpture, it is an urinal and nobody can deny that.

Also put it in an aristocratic restroom or teach the locals some manners. We are using its beauty, not smashing it to pieces. I would expect the urinal smashed if it was given to idiots.

It’s fake art imo cause it doesn’t take effort unlike the Picassos and Monets of the world.

Neither audiences nor critics can know for certain what is art.  No particular medium must be art or can't be art.  Art is made art by the heArt of the artist.

Dadaism may not be exquisitely efforted art, but some still consider it beautiful.

Dadaism just represents a generation of artists that got lazy, realize they couldn't top the artists that worked at their society's zenith, and decided to dissect the concept of 'art' instead. It's just a symptom of a failing society, one that's moved from creation and expansion to internal criticism and decay. Nothing that the West creates with its dying gasp will be remembered centuries now, unless as bizarre curiosities. Nobody will ever treat it as seriously as people do at this moment. It's a blip on a dying culture's cardiogram, not some sort of profound innovation.
