Thoughts on toppling confederate statues?

tearing down a statue isn't erasing history.

If there was a statue in germany portraying hitler in a good manner you would expect jewish people to be angry about it.

But in reality if you go to germany the only holocaust statues are the ones portraying the Jews in a good manner.

Its the opposite in the united states.

if anything its the republican party that wants to erase history.

OK, when symbols of Hitler were destroyed they were at the time not history but present day.  Destroying a 200 year old statue representing a war 200 years ago is destroying history.  Using your logic any statue or any monument no matter how old is not destroying history.  With that said I want every monument and ever statue of any one from the past destroyed because to someone it is offensive. HISTORY IS NOT YOUYS TO ERASE. I want fucking mount Rushmore fucking blown up because it represents slavery. I want every fucking statue of any one who ever lived destroyed. They are all offensive to someone they are all tyrants and murderers.  Fuck all statues and monuments that are remembrances of the past. They are evil, racist and  bigoted and all should be demolished, some one can and will make an argument to destroy it so they should all be destroyed. And don't tell me I am being ridiculous, you approve of the logic. Put a few statues in a museum with written history --carved in stone?---  of what occurred is  a minimal  brain-er.

They fought to destroy the union of the United States. All so they could treat people like animals. History has shown them to be on the wrong side.

Is it at all possible that Sadolite's discomfort with Rs and Ds, though both are treated contemptuously, the greater animus is toward Rs? Am I missing something? We'll know whose door to knock when D.C. is a smoldering pit.

I came back to say no. Confederate statues looks good on its own, just like most of us can't paint like Hitler. Hitler was an evil dictator, but that does not make his art worse than other people who dropped out of art college. Confederate monuments celebrate people that fought for an outdated cause, but that does not make their statues worse than Union generals standing in similar places.

Art does not represent its artist or whatever it is trying to portray. If it looks good it is good. An artist, however,  can have their art as a part of them. That is why we also consider Hitler a decent painter, even if we also consider him as a genocidal racist.

Confederate monuments look not worse than other statues, as a result, there is no clear reason why they should be toppled. Although, if everyone on the streets say monuments about bad people is not art, then I suppose removal is the thing to do. For my personal opinion, for the effort and quality of the statues of most of them, I would say they are decent enough to be kept especially since similar ones are intact.

I understand I have researched Dadaism for school essay 5 minutes before this post, but still. If it is art it is art. Bad art and Evil art are not the same. The worst evil art can do is to stare you into the soul and make you offended by their appearance. That is at most what they are.

Statues do not teach history. They celebrate it.

If racist addition against the flag is not unworthy of celebration - then nothing is.

Why don't we have statues of coaches that lost the Super Bowl?

Statues stand around doing F all.

And humans remember things.

Picture  a loud angry mob very carfully  removing  statutes  wraping them in bubble wrap and puttihg them in creates.  

Third thought. 

STATUTES  LIVES MATTER. 

Erecting statutes these days must take alot of planning . 

So one has to think it is getting much more elusive  to be memorized so to speak , in status form. 

If this removal of the sketchy statutes  people continues.  And the much looked into knew statutes slow down.    in like 100 or 200 years time.   Only the true absolute  finest of people will be statue ated. 

You know what i mean.  

Statues / monuments  will be realllll credible and of much more importance  .

More ( visited  ) can i say.  

And maybe worshipped.   

In 100 years time they will have a evil villian,  statue  non-memorial  park.  

A place for all these toppled statues to rest.
