Honestly maybe even Jordan Peterson despite his Canadian descent. Politics isn't really his sphere but he would be very reasonable.

Is the choice actually random or should the choice reflect my preference in some way?

If totally random I choose Chuck McIntosh.

AOC would make a terrible President- hopefully she knows that about herself.  I don't mind a few rabble rousers in politics but rabble rousers are not good presidents because good president are all about compromise and representation.  If I could choose any  active Washington politician today I would probably choose Pete Buttigieg although he hasn't really been tested much.  I like his record and demeanor, his calm intelligence, his big picture patriotism and his technocratic approach to problem solving.

Of all well known politicians, John Hickenlooper was my boss for a couple of years and a very good one- good at communication and compromise, a very saavy businessman who knows how to appeal to the cultural left.  He's a terrible political campaigner but he was the second best Mayor and best Governor I've ever seen.

Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris.

I prefer Warren if she is given a viable capacity to compete with the well-funded elite but if she can't compete with her grass roots campaign fund, I'll accept the least evil option which at present is Harris. Harris is both eloquent, quick-witted and decently reasonable in her decision making. She is hard-carrying Biden despite his dementia to keep US far more serene than anyone though possible during Trump's management of Covid.

This is weird. Why do you think good presidents compromise their values?

What is weird is your lack of comprehension.  The values part is your bad faith attempt to distort.  If I said good presidents are all about making deals you would have replied why do you think good presidents must deal with the devil?  Putting false words in the other guy's mouth is a shitty debate tactic.

No, but it's something I hear from both sides a lot and it disgusts me.

"We should conpromise"

Absolutely not, it is disgusting.

For example if a republican honestly believes abortion is murder, it is sick he will say, well maybe we can allow murder if the mother was raped. That sort of co.promisenis unacceptable.

If a liberal believes that gay marriage should be allowed, why would they co.promise and say "well we can compromise and just stop with lesbians as far as gay marriage is concerned"

It's disgusting, and any politician willing to compromise is a piece of shit.

Austin Petersen.  He wants a world where gay married couples can defend their weed fields with fully automatic machine guns.

Again, you exhibit zero comprehension of the American project. By any objective standard, slavery is a worse crime than murder and a majority of Americans believed so at the founding of our Nation yet recognized the perils of dividing the colonies in the face of a superior enemy and compromised on slavery- a compromise that has haunted our whole history and haunts us still and yet we cling together as a Nation of differences.

The whole strangeness of the District of Columbia and the Mason Dixon line and the 3/5th compromise were all highly expensive material artifacts built around the preservation of that compromise.

When the Civil War came Lincoln, raised an Abolitionist his whole life, was clear that Union was still the national priority

If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that.
That is, the greatest of US Presidents on the most important issue of his era was willing to make any compromise necessary to preserve the Nation.

You mention gay rights but apparently have not considered  that I spent a significant portion of my life paying taxes and respecting laws in a nation where I had no right to join the military or get married.  Where I could imprisoned by the state for fucking and fired from my job (and was once) for being immoral in the eyes of my employer with no recourse from the law.  Yet I made those compromises with the country I loved.  I voted for Bill Clinton when he opposed gays in the military and I voted for Obama when he opposed gay marriage.  The whole of my life has been a series of humiliating compromises and patient arguments of persuasion to win those rights that you enjoy so automatically while luxuriating in the privilege of hating my Nation and not bothering to comprehend in the least how America works or what it takes to be an American citizen.  It is an easy thing for a straight white man to say never compromise because most white men are so seldom required to.  The rest of us learn early that compromise is how democracies are forged and hold in contempt those who blithely mistake their good fortune for principle.

well then gimme a like, man.  Geez, people will write you a whole paragraph on how much they like something but still won't hit the thumb's up button.  You don't even have to agree 100%, you don't have to be in love-  just like it cause you like it.

one day soon I will write a post about how we should trash all those initials and just go with queer- one syllable, all inclusive, super simple queer.
