What do you 'look for/like in a Sci Fi movie?

For me, I enjoy the 'setting, just that Sci Fi 'aesthetic,
Put the 7 Samurai in space, I might still like it, though original is best.
But mostly just the 'aesthetic changed, like the West version of it. Story is 'mostly the same theme.

I suppose a story becomes more Sci Fi mechanically when it deals with some specific aspect of future technology,
Though I wonder, once we 'reach said level of tech or aesthetic in real life, is the story 'still Sci Fi?

But an example of more mechanically Sci Fi, would be 2001: A Space Odyssey or I Robot,
A focus on the technology, AI.
Or the Alien or Predator movies, what will aliens be like and our interactions?
Though maybe more esoteric interaction movies with aliens are more Sci Fi than horror.

. . . Still, one can imagine various Sci Fi in fantasy, Homunculus and Golems artificial creations of man,
Or when different cultures in history have violently met each other for the first time, confusions in their technologies such as horses or guns. Differences in values.

See message 1290 for three sci-fi and of course ive mentioned here original Blade Runner all  time favorite.  Alien was big competion for it and I chose it over Blade Runner at that time.  Not any more and Im not going to bother ALien Rommulus.

Its all about stimulating nervous system in some or another.  I was watching Goldwyn Mayer Russian movie alledged based on getting through the Nazi blockade to Lennigrad, then primarilyy many young and midde-age women building rail road tracks over  two or more rivers and, learning to operate assist and all apsects of running trains and systems associated with that, to start getting supplies in to the besieged city.

There was some romantic the aspect, however, the main stimulation came to me mostly when they are getting bombed from Nazies on 100's of the trips the made in and out, that sort of thing who will make it or not, what happens in each situation.

I’ve been getting into a lot more libertarian philosophy recently. I guess my only question is if should side with anarcho-libertarianism or minarcho-libertarianism. Leaning on the side of minarchism. I do think at least some small state is necessary for society to function.

Any small state will be swallowed by its neighbours.

What!?
My latest computer update removed Wordpad!

Well, I'm 'still not paying for office.
I'll just redownload Wordpad, and use Notepad in the far future if I 'have to.

What's with computer companies pushing useless junk apps and withholding basic vital features?

Was WordPad the predecessor to Microsoft Word?

My family has an older computer in the house that still uses WordPad

I don't 'think so,
Couple Wikipedia, looks to me that Microsoft Word is about 10 years older.

"WordPad was introduced in Windows 95"

Microsoft Word "first released on October 25, 1983"

Penguins.

Crazy birds.

Standing around in the frozen wastes with an egg on their feet.

Whilst the missus goes of and does some fishing.

Random thoughts on a theme of Lemming.

For me, reading has two purposes, informational necessity and relaxation.

I prefer factual books, because I dislike the contrivance of fiction.

I do have a more eclectic taste in visual entertainment, though I am picky.

Depending upon season, I will watch TV for between 0 and 3 hrs per day.

I never go to the cinema and never listen to the radio.

I find radios in cars particularly irksome.

Nonetheless if circumstance permits, I will occasionally don my headphones and listen to some music from You.Tube.

Usually, either prog-rock or ambient....Occasionally classical.

At the moment, the late Hiroshi Yoshimura is my musician of choice.

Online discussions sites, chiefly DebateArt and DebateIsland is where I can waste too much time.

Like this morning.

Today Mrs Zed is away, so I am completing the rebuilding and refurbishing of one of my bicycles, and will also work out for an hour on my exercise bike.

Other than that, it will be general daily chores...Modern day hunter gathering.

Hope that I haven't bored you with my random thoughts Lemming.

I find my mind 'works better if I read regularly,
Though I enjoy the computer, it's too easy to turn my mind off on it.
But I'd agree it can also be relaxing or informative.

Some fiction gets me to think, or is relaxing reading,
But I suppose one can still get that with nonfiction,
Still,

"During one of those long hours, his cousin Dennis Lincoln said to him, ‘Abe, them yarns is all lies.’  Lincoln looked up for a moment and replied, ‘Mighty darn good lies, Denny.’"

If I lived before the internet, I think I'd go to the movies more often,
And if I lived before movies, I think I'd listen to the radio more often.
. .
Seems a lot of planning ahead with those two though, have to read ahead of time to see what is worth tuning in to, since one is not free to pick and choose in the instant they are in. Other than changing the channel, it's still more coming 'across, than turning on 'whatever one wants.

I 'do like classical music sometimes, only classical CD I ever bought though was Mozart's Requiem.

Hiroshi Yoshimura, just looked up on Youtube, peaceful, relaxing.

What type of bicycle?
Big tires, thin tires?
Many speeds, few speeds?

More thoughts

Carbon racing/road bike, thin tyres, big gears.

Designed for these big Welsh hills.

My cottage is on a 20% incline/decline.

I rarely turn right when I exit my gate.

Need to warm up first.

I lived a great deal of my life before the internet.

And went to the cinema more often.

Running was my passion back then.

And music over TV.

I have a mobile device, not a smartphone.

I have no desire to constantly be in touch with stuff and people that it isn't necessary to be constantly in touch with.

I do see value in the internet.

And regard technology as an inevitable evolutionary phase.

Listening to Hiroshi Yoshimura now.

Four Post Cards

Very relaxing and helps me think and compose.
