I'm Smithereens from DDO, I like how this place feels. I'm probably going to twiddle my thumbs for a few years and hope that this site grows into something beautiful.
New beginning?

Perhaps with ddo in the shape it is in the process won't be quite so slow.
DDO's community died before news of this one could spread unfortunately. I have a few DDOers on facebook that I could ping, but rebuilding the community is going to take some good old fashioned heralding and a dose of new blood.
oh look a quote feature, and no more walls of text by default
Looks really nice, the Creator did a great job hopefully it'll gain some traction.
I like the forums are more casual then debate oriented.

@Smithereens
Neat.There's a quote feature?
-->
@Earth
It looks like we have to manually quote however, which is a slight bother.
-->
@Polytheist-Witch
me too
It could be. But if 70% of the people here are from DDO's religion forum, that's gonna be a major buzzkill.
-->
@Swagnarok
The benefit of religious forum culture was that they rarely ventured outside it. I found it hilarious that as the site deteriorated they were all oblivious as to why it was happening when literally the entirety of the rest of the site had been well aware of the reasons for years.

You are right it may take some time. It is rather unfortunate how DDO has become...
But their is hope for this place. So, lets hope for the best Here..

@Smithereens
Stay classy.

I should get credit for being totally aware the whole time. I became a prominent member of Di as did Whiteflame as soon as we could.
And no we in no shape or form joined together, I actually had totally quit DDO and got bored of the site and DI was advertising on CD which caught my eye.
WF and I can claim actual superiority over the rest of you in this. We both genuinely (in totally separate paths of getting there) became regulars of a debating-specialist community as DDO came to its ruins.

@RationalMadman
DI can barely be called a debating website.
I heard from FB this is the new DDO?
-->
@AngelofDeath
Probably the best candidate, but its still up in the air.
-->
@AngelofDeath
its the closest thing out there to DDO
-->
@Earth
DI can entirely be called a debating website. Not slightly, not barely, entirely. It also invented entirely unique forms of debating that the admin here has said he'd like to mimic so please do think before you type
-->
@RationalMadman
Like what?It also invented entirely unique forms of debating
-->
@Earth
Let me just screenshot where the admin here admits lusting after a debate type that DI invented (one of the two that it invented entirely on its own, the other being "Formalish")
Now let's observe where the user who suggested it got their idea from.
I will paste two links that make it blatant that it's both a DI regular who suggested it and that it's from DI he got the idea.
-->
@RationalMadman
Reddit is basically that. I'm not sure how old DI is. but it isn't older than Reddit.
-->
@Earth
No, Reddit has no functionality for the creator of a threat to award a 'best responder' and you are entirely allowed to post agreement with the original poster and to purely advise them or troll with some sarcasm.
In DI you are only allowed to debate against the original poster or to counter what another said in a direct manner in favor of the poster's position.
You may have meant Yahoo Answers or Quora but no, there the 'best answer' is not in any way necessarily in disagreement with the original poster but I admit on DI some people use the format wrong and award best 'persuade me' response to someone agreeing with them.
You can now go ahead and tell me how you were correct in saying DI is not a debating platform. It offers two different 1v1 formats.

@RationalMadman
/r/changemyview as a delta function.
Also don't recall saying DI isn't a debate site.

Lol. "The benefit of the religion forum culture is they never left the only room in the house where the lights were on and you could hear lots of movement and voices."
Also, stay classy x2, my friend.

Relax. Why does being from the religion forum mean I'm going to abduct you in your sleep and release you on a desert island in the middle of nowhere wearing only assless chaps and carrying just a pocketknife with a blade the length of a pinky, after which me and my tribe of ululating religion forum veterans will tell you the rules (give us good sport or die) and then slowly, cunningly, and strategically hunt you across the island over the course of three weeks, savoring it with almost sacred relish, employing head games and psychological warfare that defeats you not only physically but emotionally and mentally before finally closing in for the satisfaction of the kill and then carefully disposing of your body by table sawing it into loaf-sized pieces and feeding it to a nearby tiger shark population we keep for that purpose because that way no one will ever ever ever find you.
Lol....ululating religion forum veterans
Dean Koontz loves that word.
If we aren't careful, the same silly prejudice against the religion board will take root here.

@ethang5
Obviously they have had issue with the religion board for a while. Seems it's being so active was an issue. Any other problems are mod related and need to be addressed to Airmax.
