Foo fighters and three days grace are the only rock bands I dig the shit out of. Hate rock overall.

@RationalMadman
What genre of music do you typically listen to?
-->
@ArgentTongue
Edm-type pop stuff, I admit I have a weak spot but...
Rap. Always.
Although the field of gangs is well studied, information regarding the way gangs may use or misuse music for different needs is sparse. The aim of this systematic review is to gather descriptive and empirical information to ascertain the important roles rap music possesses within gang life. This review suggests five main functions of rap used within gangs with an emphasis on the subgenre of gangsta rap. First, rap facilitates antisocial behavior by reinforcing such messages in its lyrics. Second, its deviant lyrics serve as a reflection of the violent reality experienced in many urban ghetto communities. Third, it operates as a means for constructing individual and collective identity, as well as resistance identity. Fourth, it functions as an educating force by teaching its members how to act and respond in the urban ghetto. Finally, rap glorifies gang norms among newcomers and successfully spreads its values to the general population.

@Goldtop
You are certainly skilled at being needlessly confrontational. Even though I agree with the content of your comment, I accept that this thread was intended to be peaceful and publicly collaborative, not a place for debate and heated discussion, which is clearly what you are trying to initiate. At least be polite and forgo doing it here.

@ArgentTongue
So terribly sorry for upsetting you, I had no idea a debate forum was not a place for debate. My bad.not a place for debate and heated discussion
You are certainly skilled at being needlessly confrontational
Thank you for insulting me, I suppose it was out of being such an upstanding member of this site who is not confrontational, needlessly or otherwise?
-->
@Goldtop
Not upset, at least not in the sense you are implying. More annoyed than anything. And the insult was dead - on actually. You and I both know that you came into this thread with the express purpose of provoking the Madman. It would be mindless to claim otherwise. In fact, I think this is the third or fourth thread where you have done so since the initial conversation on the 'Flat - Earth' topic. And while you might see this as initiating debate, in reality, it's petty drama - plain and simple.
-->
@ArgentTongue
If you had read that thread, you would see RM had no intention of forming an argument considering he never said anything, but instead did what every other flat earther does, which is post links elsewhere. His tactics run antithetical to discussion and debate. And although I pointed out the flaws in the video (which I didn't have to do) he still made no attempt whatsoever to debate but instead complained about being bullied. Then he turned around and bullied others. So, if you're here to protect RM, then you're certainly barking up the wrong tree and should be addressing his lack of intellectual acumen, lack of debating and lack of honesty here.the express purpose of provoking the Madman. the 'Flat - Earth' topic

@Goldtop
I can tell you what I am not here to do. I am not here to debate the ethics and credibility of an argument that has nothing to do with the topic 'Good Music', and I am certainly not protecting anyone. I simply want you to keep your clear vendetta against the Madman out of this thread. I genuinely enjoy this topic, and I would be disappointed to see it denigrate into the ranks of flame - war topics.
Also, I would hesitate to use the word bullying.

No problem.I genuinely enjoy this topic, and I would be disappointed to see it denigrate into the ranks of flame - war topics.

Why do you refer to me as the Madman. Not only is the dehumanizing but the "Rational" would be something Iwant read. Why can't I fight back? Goldtop is lying about what I did in the flat Earth thread and is spewing vitriol about rap fans beimg psychopaths because what he means by psychopathic is intelligent and cunning as opposed to using said talents in a malignant way.
