One persons heaven is another persons hell.

A mansion in New York or Chicago sounds like hell to me.

Heaven needs to be what one wants it to be, otherwise it's a flawed concept.

Though conventional ideas of heaven are flawed concepts anyway.

There's a slim chance that  internal processes might leave some sort of residual effect...Call it a soul if you like....But it's too speculative to say that this will include sentience.

Your other sentence was not right though because it is quite clear what it says in the bible that we will be provided for and if you scoff at the Lord you are not a true Christian 2 Peter  Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”

As far as your family in heaven: what age will they be? Why would they need bodies or a mansion?
God has his own timetable for when we rise but true Christians will have an immaculate body and be dressed in glowing white. It is not for us to question 2 Peter  Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” but God has said that he will provide for us in heaven.

One persons heaven is another persons hell.

Often true, however many people can enjoy the very same paradise.

A mansion in New York or Chicago sounds like hell to me.

Lol I'm sure it does. But does that mean there's no place in New York or Chicago you might love with your choice of home?

Heaven needs to be what one wants it to be, otherwise it's a flawed concept.

You're right here, but who has defined heaven for you and why?

Though conventional ideas of heaven are flawed concepts anyway.

Not really flawed, perhaps just not to your personal tastes. But I assure you, elevated places of existence would astound you, even the Christian paradise. Going along with what you said though, you aren't forced to inhabit any heaven where your hearts desire is elsewhere.

There's a slim chance that  internal processes might leave some sort of residual effect...Call it a soul if you like

Wow, why is it you must deny the soul as it is proposed, why always something else?.....ever thought of that?

....But it's too speculative to say that this will include sentience.

It's not, not with such a wide data base of facts, evidence and experience. That's why it's just too speculative to deny it.

EtrnlVw.....Yep. I could twist and turn your answers back again and you could do the same again and so on and so on.

The fact is though, there are no facts.    Only  speculation based upon a naive hypothesis.

Heaven is a concept and can be what ever one imagines it to be.

Utanity...Your fervency is just indicative of your conditioning.....And after you die, you might or might not be disappointed....Who knows....But it does no harm to speculate.

Your head is not on properly because you say one thing then you say the opposite because you say there are no facts then you say what heaven is so you have no idea at all but try to say that you do.
It says In John 14: we learn My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? and thats a fact.

Supposition bordering on the delusional.

The actuality of a specific GOD is unproveable....That's why this discussion is ongoing and unresolved.

The Christian Story is one of many similar hypotheses, typically embellished with super-nature to create a myth.

Nonetheless, the GOD PRINCIPLE is still a valid hypothesis....But it's unlikely to be a bloke with a big house in New York or Chicago....Or a big house anywhere.

As things stand, biblical heaven is only wishful thinking.

If the Christian GOD was in fact real, which would it prefer in it's house.?.... A good atheist or a bad believer.....

The **OFFICIAL Christian Heaven™** is actually a gigantic cube made of jasper and pure gold, approximately 2,414 kilometers (twelve thousand furlongs) per side.

Most people seem to think it's a little more like,

Go ahead... at some point you will see that you have limited thinking, poor reasons for denying what could be a great thing, for yourself as well.

The fact is though, there are no facts.    Only  speculation based upon a naive hypothesis.

That's your opinion, and ignoring the facts is not a wise move, it just makes you ignorant of the truth. Perhaps you would like to expand on the supposed naivety of this hypothesis, I'd be happy to fix that for you.

Heaven is a concept and can be what ever one imagines it to be.

Sure, but it's not just a concept, it's a reality that CAN be experienced. That's part of the problem and is a very sad thing for materialists, they have no way to comprehend the implications of consciousness because they don't understand what it is.

Who knows....But it does no harm to speculate.

No need for speculation with such a wide data base of facts and information.

Heaven is "just like New York City, or Chicago?" Really? Why would I want to go there? Heaven is like nothing presently on Earth. Your "just like" is entirely a slipped metaphor. Words cannot describe heaven, it is so glorious, peaceful, joyful and incomparable. Just like NYC? Seen it, lately? I have. Not a place remotely like heaven. My favorite movie is "Field of Dreams" because it attempts to make heaven, and, for brief moments, achieves it. The last ten minutes are heaven, if only to give a guy struggling to keep a farm for building heaven on a baseball field, just to have a catch with his dad. And you want to muck it up with NYC? Sorry about your heaven.

Thats all interesting stuff but you know. I stick to the facts and dont tell people any more than the facts that are in the bible because that way when they get to heaven it is much better than what I said.

I wouldnt go there but its just thats what they say but I think that if you tell people that then when they do go to heaven they will think that wow this is so much better.

Well, there's the beauty of heaven. I think its our dreams come true, just about whatever they are. My dreams run a little different than yours, but... well, I guess that's why it's heaven. To each our own. May fav color is red, there will be frogs, chocolate [dark], Ferrari [reed, of course], I'll take kebobs on one corner, but lobster on another, and something I've never had before on a third, and that leaves a surprise. One woman: just more time with my bride with whom I've already shared 47 years of bliss.

Notwithstanding the fact,  that I only  mentioned good atheists..... You also forgot that atheists don't believe.

Talk about digging holes.

Exactly the point I made previously.

So it remains a no win situation for both theists and sceptics alike.

Your like bad enemy and good enemy because good atheist can be a bad believer and bad beliver can be good atheist. But bad enemy can be a good enemy and a good enemy can be a bad enemy so a good atheist is a scum and a bad believer is a scum. So why do you want to have scum in heaven anyway.

An enemy is hostile opposition, so never good, from the point of view of the self righteous.

And the use of the word "scum" is equally as arbitrary....In so much as A and B are both "scum" in each others eyes, whilst they are also both righteous in their own eyes.

The thoughts of men are not necessarily the thoughts of a GOD....A GOD might decide that A's and B's mutual hostility and contradictory self-righteousness, is just not the sort of scummy behaviour that is required in heaven.

N.B.    "Scum" and consequently scummy are not words that I would normally choose to use....I am merely quoting for the purposes of emphasis.

Well, I expect those words were blocked for a reason.

You have a personal message which others may or may not agree with and vice versa.

Better to be verbose than vitriolic.

Since when is a citation necessary for a comment beginning with "I think?" Kind of makes it obvious that it's a personal opinion and not necessary a statement of fact needing a citation. Or if you insist, the citation is:  https://www.amazon.com/Road-Taken-Richard-Heket-ebook/dp/B075X29FSP/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=richard+heket&qid=1606426158&s=books&sr=1-15

The Hebrew Bible depicts Heaven as a place that is inaccessible to humans.  Although some prophets are occasionally granted temporary visionary access to heaven, such as in 1 Kings 22:19–23, they hear only God's deliberations concerning the Earth and learn nothing of what Heaven is like. There is almost no mention in the Hebrew Bible of Heaven as a possible afterlife destination for human beings, who are instead described as "resting" in Sheol, which is a place of darkness to which the dead go.
