Why shouldn't books be rated for the depiction of graphic, unsettling, or mature content in a similar way to movies?
Should books have ratings similar to movies?

I think it already is but it is hidden inside the book and based on the authors opinion, not a standard rating system
there is no war on books like video games or movies too

There is. There are 18+ text porn sites with content that would be illegal to print in an under-18 environment.
Books are different than video games because of the visualization a reader must have. If a reader can not proper visualize the situation, then there book does not effect them. On Amazon if you order a book, it will tell you an age range. Or if you go a library, the library will list it in "Mature" "Teen" "Kids"
There's a lot of "erotic literature", like RM said. It's illegal to show people under 18.

why you gotta say that. I searched up "erotic literature", and you know what I did.
I had the same reaction as when Gordon Ramsay saw recycled dead oxen meat used in a steak, and then I cleared my history for unwanted, but needed cleansing, and that is the only rotting thing.

User discretion is advised.

Yes. It is even funnier because I am literally 'User". Yeah. I am not searching for that again.

I'm not to worried about books, Not many kids even read books or even know how to read . For those that do, I believe they have already far surpassed the intellectual level of their non reading counter parts and don/t need mothering anymore/

Thanks....... Would I be considered a kid?
On this topic, maybe, if it were we'd have to assume either rating system was actually enforced and that it actually effectively censored whatever we assumed didn't need to be seen by children (Are we just defining children as people under 18, if so :( )

Age has nothing to do with being an adult, a 15 year old can be an adult. An adult pays their own bills, doesn't live with their parents and figures out how to handle all of life's problems themselves. That is what adults do. I know people who are in their 50's that are still irresponsible children. The govt is now their mommy and pays all their bills and provides them a place to live.

Aren't they already?
I go into a library, there's the kids section, the young adults section, and the adults section.
. . .
Though I admit there's no warning when a book in the adult section is going to contain sex or murder, 'near always one never finds those explicit subjects in the childeren or young adult section, that 'I remember.

Mm, sometimes there are warnings, especially whenever purchasing online, which is where the vast majority of book sales happens
