Lev 25 not about slavery

25  :      from the original  manuscripts

ועבדך   Your  male workers     -    ואמתך   your  female  workers    -    אשׁר    whom      -   יהיו־לך   are    -     מאת     themselves    -    הגוים   foreigners   heathens  -

אשׁר      whom     -      סביבתיכם    are  from around you    -      מהם   them     -    תקנו    you  will  buy    -    עבד    male  worker   -   ואמה׃    and  female worker

Meaning   from the  manuscripts

: 25    Your  male workers  your  female  workers   whom   are   themselves   foreigners  /   heathens    whom  are  from around you,,   them  you  will  buy    male  worker  and  female worker

Lev 25    is  specifically  about      -   debt   forgiveness   ordinance  -

“  YEAR OF  JUBILEE   “    -    every  7  years,   and dealing with the  homeless and poor and those in debt.  -    The    “  YEAR OF  JUBILEE   “      was a    -   debt forgiveness ordinance  -that occurred  -     every seven years.  As  an  act  of  Kindness  -  Privileges  Benefits   -    designated  only  for Fellow Israeli ;  Israeli citizens   -    Jews.....  The context of the passage is  referring   specifically  Directly   to the  “  YEAR OF  JUBILEE   “   and dealing with the  homeless and poor and those in debt.      -    Redeeming the Poor whom are indebted.

THE  PASSAGE  IS  NOT  ABOUT   “   THE  CAPTURE  “    AND   ROUNDING  UP  OF  HEATHENS AND STRANGERS AND  ENSLAVING  THEM.

CONTEXT

Lev 25:35  And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

Meaning   =   every  7   years,   poor  Israeli  citizens  who had fallen into debt were to be completely forgiven of their  unbearable   debts   -  and in most cases,    property they had lost would be returned to them.

:36  Take thou no usury   “  do not be  lending money “   to him, or increase his debt.     -  that thy brother may live with thee.

:37  Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury    -  lending money   , nor lend him thy victuals /  food  /  provisions    -  for increase.

:39  And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:

Lev 25:40  But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile:

:41  And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.

:42  For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.

:43  Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.

BUT   FOR   NON  -   Israeli citizens,   strangers  -

strangers  in  debt,
    strangers whom are homeless,
strangers whom have occurred loss of property
strangers whom are poor and have financial  loss

the   NON   ISRAELI CITIZENS     WORKERS   who are working to pay off these debts

:44    the   NON   ISRAELI CITIZENS     WORKERS   bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.

THE  PASSAGE    -  is  explaining that this  privilege  of debt   forgiveness   regarding the   -    “  YEAR OF  JUBILEE   “    -    every  7  years
and specifically in dealing with the  homeless and poor and those in debt.   -    The    “  YEAR OF  JUBILEE   “      was a    -   debt forgiveness ordinance  -that occurred  -     every seven years.

:45  Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.

:46  And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever:

but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.

:47  And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger's family:

:48  After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him:

53  And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight.

:54  And if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubile, both he, and his children with him.

The reality is that those in  debt  worked for others to pay off their debts,  after the   indebted   or  obligated  worker  was  finished  with  a  job  performed, their  boss  or  caretaker  would  contract them out to someone else who would pay for the services.

BUT  -  every  7   years  the     “  YEAR OF  JUBILEE   “    -    every  7  years   -     the  homeless and poor and those in debt  received  complete and  fully  automatic debt forgiveness    -     every seven years, As  an  act  of  Kindness  -  Privileges  Benefits   -    designated  only  for Fellow Israeli ;  Israeli citizens   -    Jews

The context of the passage is  referring   specifically  Directly   to the     YEAR OF  JUBILEE   “   and dealing with the  homeless and poor and those in debt.      -    Redeeming the Hebrew  Citizens  whom  were Poor whom were  indebted.

THE  PASSAGE  IS  NOT  ABOUT    -     the  foreigners  ((   NON  CITIZENS   ))))     HEATHENS or  STRANGERS    -   do  not  have  this  privilege.

NON  CITIZENS   -   “    foreigners “    would forever remain as workers,, bond  servants   -  whom when       “   if  “       debt occurred,  they  fell into  debt
their  property and inheritance would  not  be returned to them
their debts and losses could be  transferred
debts and losses could be  re assigned
debts and losses could be  relocated
to another, who will put them to work -  that they finish repaying their debts.

No ancient prophet or wise man ever spoke against slavery.
At that time, slavery was seen as the bottom of the social safety net.
There was no advice a person could give other than , ----- go out and starve to death,  or beg, borrow or steal to live.
