It is time for a DART Presidency

Greetings all, 

Now that we have had some time to let the new moderation team settle in, it is time that a new chapter of this site begins. 

Our forefathers on Debate.org had a presidency for many years, and several DDO presidents accomplished great things. And let us not forget that when the institution was abolished the site met its fatal end shortly afterward. Virtuoso has been doing a great job as head moderator so far, but the people need a voice. Therefore, I formally propose that this site holds its first presidential election in June of 2020. 

There was discussions of doing so. I would be in full support. Let's garner that activity

I can't possibly imagine how this might end badly. The mere thought is truly inconceivable.

I'd support it if it didn't turn into a big troll fest, but I highly doubt that wouldn't happen lol. 

I don't really see the point. We already have a popularity contest in the form of the HoF.

The point is that we, the people, can have a direct line of communication and voice to the creator and owner of this site. The mods are doing a good job but they obviously have a different viewpoint than the average user. Think of it like a House of Lords/House of Commons distinction 

What would the president do?

Supreme Leader and Dictator. They would command a full invasion of other debate sites using guerilla warfare and doing it in a quick and sharp fashion. They'd overthrow current moderation and become an Empire, until simultaneously realizing this was a bad idea, and eventually crumbling to ForDebating.com, where Coveny and his 2 intellectuals will take down the forces, American style

Sounds good. However, doing all that would require not being lazy, so I won't run for office.

Unless you force yourself into the president, then make it a dictatorship

Who are the likely candidates and who are you going to vote for? 

I'd want to run for president.  I want to do that in real life.  Are we picking a political party?  If we have a president, we need congress as well to avoid it becoming a dictatorship.

No. The moderators still have authority and final say, but they are a community leader

I would like to be the shady chief of staff to a candidate.

This is stupid as fuck but I think it would be interesting if the president had the potential to become a dictator as real presidents do. There should also be DART political parties advocating for a certain way to reform the site. Extremist groups would be good too ill see myself out

This is basically to elect a speaker for the people of server on Moderation, not necessarily a politica simulation. However, (shameless plug beyond this point), I HAVE A DISCORD WHERE YOU CAN DO EXACTLY THAT
