You are talking out of your ass, to be quite frank.

You talk as if when you PM your buddy on Discord that NSA is instantly reading it or something. No, they don't do that all the time at all. They monitor popular servers of any outlandish/extreme name in terms of what it represents or the type it is predicted to attract. People give too much cynicism to NSA, by the way. I say this as someone who believes many things about freedom, the government etc. 

If NSA truly was what most anti-authoritarians say that it is, then it wouldn't permit people to talk shit about it or any of the nations it's allied to, among much else. They don't care what you do, they just happen to know nearly everything that you do. There is a difference between that and what governments like China, Iran etc do with their people. China more than any other government is horrifying in how brutally they will go after people who didn't even cause much hassle, based on what it monitors you doing online if it doesn't like what you're saying. You could literally say 'freedom, FUCK YEAH!' and it marks you down on official rankings of your worth as a citizen. If your score gets overall too low (it even includes you tripping on the street and falling on its surveillance cameras in this score) then you are barred from things including going on holiday (your passport gets declined if your citizen score is too low but you don't ever know it until that moment a it keeps the score secret from you). Most other nations, even the big bad surveillance ones like Iran, Russia, Saudi and such, tend to only really look into your online activity after you give them a really good reason to spend their resources on that. When they do it, they are very harsh but there's no nation other than China that does it so actively and unfairly tbph, it isn't fair the way they rank people because the score is based on how easy you are to manipulate and control, not on how actually good or productive you are a citizen.

Oh and if you didn't already know, NK is a puppet-state of China in practise, although for show they have a rivalry.
