Why do you support Israel?

Why do you support Israel? American support of Israel is strongly embedded in their politics despite the policies that they enact. Americans tolerate having pro-Israel lobbies corrupting their congress. Public criticism by politicians (i.e. Ilhan Omar) will land accusations of anti-semitism.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to enact policies that support its creation as a Jewish ethnoreligious state that disenfranchises the Palestinian residents there. This includes Christians, which makes it quite ironic for all of the American evangelicals that are blindly pro-Israel and have more sympathy with Jews who hate them rather than Palestinian Christians. 

Are they really our greatest ally either? They sunk the USS Liberty and are consistently dragging us into pointless middle eastern conflicts that hardly benefit us and only tarnish our own reputation. 

Why do you, personally, support Israel? 

Protestants usually support Israel because of bad theology. 

The Orthodox Church has a pretty good presence in Israel. A lot of Jews are educated to hate Christians. In Israel they are even encouraged to spit on them.

We love them anyway, but the feeling is not always mutual.

Yeah, pretty much every Catholic or Orthodox Christian in the holy land is against Israel. The numbers of Christians even went from 10% in the 1950s to 2% nowadays. It's blind American Protestants who know nothing about Israel itself that support the Jewish apartheid.

I'm on the fence about this, On one side Israel needs defense but has not been clean 

I don't support them. Our politicians do and the nation pays a high price for that. It's not worth it and Israel's handling of the Palestinian situation has been pretty bad.

Only the seriously and ignorantly deranged could support the Fascist Apartheid state of Israel.

Why does Israel even deserve defense? It doesn't deserve to exist.

Why should I care about a bunch of Jews that repress non-Jewish minorities, including Palestinian Christians? Let them die as a state then.

Let Palestine burn into hamburger ash too while were at it, let every country burn

The Palestinians have a legitimate claim to the land unlike Israel.

No? The Israelis are invaders. The Palestinian Muslims and Christians lived there for much longer.

Muslims don't need more land, they already have mecca, let them kill themselves in the name of Allah somewhere else

And how about the Palestinian Christians that have lived in the holy land for centuries, and have been driven out and oppressed under Jewish settlement policies?

I'd say we can afford to cut ties with Israel now that we can make do without Arabian oil.

Israel won many wars of independence sadly, so Palestine is basically fucked until they can win a war.

But before I begin my position is not entirely straightforward so no one throw any "AIPAC sux!111!" shit at me because I hate them too. I hate lobbyists in general

This is a complex issue and my middleground view tends to piss both sides off. If either of you wants to continue, ill be happy to oblige.
