I disagree about "changing the wording of the topic, so the Instigator is always Pro."

I think changing the wording of the topic into a negative might (1) confuse some people, as I've observed on DDO, and (2) prevents the ability of the instigator to decide that they want to be on Con, use strategy which is uniquely applicable to being on the Con as opposed to being on the Pro, e.g., a counterplan that Pro doesn't anticipate in part 1.

I think an alternative would be doing what Edeb8 does -- allowing the instigator to pick the side but making Pro always go first, whether they're the instigator or the contender.

Well, we could easily change it so if people agree, then at some point I'll go for it.

What I mean by a page jump is if I want to go to page 3 and there are 5 pages, then I don't have to scroll to the bottom of the page to get there.

Well, I am not sure if it would be used frequently and it would mess up the design of the upper part of the topic since pagination takes lots of space. I am thinking about adding a small "Go to bottom" button that would automatically scroll the page down to its end and one could use the pagination from there. I believe that would just as useable.

Well, I am afraid it's a bit more complicated than that.

I mean, if this website had what's called a responsive design, then it could be optimized but I am afraid that ship has sailed and what I'd most likely go for is creating a separate mobile version of the website. But it involves recreating all of the website's pages but in the mobile layout which is LOTS of work, so it's not that easy ...

Awesome!

Also, when I clicked the little bell notification to see your reply, it didn't take me to your reply exactly, only to the thread. It'd be great if it took me to exactly the reply or post in question.

Allow people to see all forum posts made by a certain individual user.

For instance, on DDO, if I type debate.org/tejretics/forums, I can see the forum posts I've made on there. Would like something similar.

Is anyone else having a problem where the buttons on the post creator stop working? Like sometimes I'll hit the quote or italicize button and nothing happens, the icons just sort of gray out. It's sporadic. I'm not sure what conditions cause it. Navigating away from the page and then back again seems to fix it temporarily.

That's weird. If you find some pattern to this and could give me steps to reproduce it, I may try to find the problem. Could you please tell me what browser you are using and if it's mobile or desktop?

Why can't you put pagination at both the top and bottom of the thread? Wouldn't it just look like this? https://ibb.co/gcJMo9

I'm on Firefox. Desktop. I'll let you know if I figure out how to replicate the problem. Until I do, there's nothing that can be done about it.

I gave it some thought and I think I'll just put the pagination instead of "Show recent" link, so almost like in your picture :)

Every post is marked as 'added 08-12-18'.
Can we Brits have a UK date format?

Oh I see, didn't notice the edit. Truth be told, I am also not a fan of this format, it always gets me confused but I guess I could change it depending on the origin but then I'd have to change it everywhere for the consistency sake and also I'd need to find a way to know which format to use and I could do that by asking for location or by analysing the user's current time or just by providing some setting somewhere or something else, so that may be a lot of work and I am afraid we have more important things to implement first ...

Btw, I wanted to point out that those timestamps that you see on the website, they are timezone specific, so two users from different places see different timestamps, so at least there's that :)

e.g above it says:   Added: 08.12.18 02:16PM
To me that's the 8th of December!

It's a very, very minor issue.

1. Warn people that the character limits are 3 - 20,000
2. Don't force pasting as 'plain text' you can't even paste from within the debate itself, all enter key-ing and formatting of any sort is erased upon the paste. Same for pasting from elsewhere of course.
3. Please enable to embed image and video in some way.

You have a warning message for when one has less than an hour to post their argument. Please make this at 5 hours before or at least 3 hours before.

Will do

But regarding the pasting, I don't remember precisely but I believe there was some issue with it, I'll take a look into it again

Other suggestions:

1. An activity feed for user profiles.

2. A set of big issues with users' opinions.

3. A system of voting on debates, involving RFDs, and the appointment of a voting moderator who's an experienced in debater in some formal format.

An activity feed for user profiles.
Definitely will be there.

A set of big issues with users' opinions.
Also will be there in some form or another but not too soon :(

Could you elaborate please? What's RFD? My idea was to create two things, first is "judging guilds" which would have 2 or more judges and could be assigned to the debates. And the other is to come up with some idea of "trustworthy" judges, which is pretty much the same thing that you suggested. Given time, I think we'll come up with something decent :)
