Snerp heads to the stockyard, stopping along the way to ask about a smithy in specific.

(with horses now we can travel quite a bit faster. It's prolly nearing nighttime, which still leaves us all day tomorrow before the morning meeting)

The group reaches the gates as the sun begins to lower in the sky. Szoldar and Yevgeni are there as discuss.

Szoldar: Is late. Escorting for today is over. If you need more, ask Urwin and he will contact us.

Yevgeni: Da.

Szoldar: We took liberty of selling wolf parts. He tosses a bag of 30 gold over to Snerp.

The group then makes its way through Vallaki to the stockyard.

This large stockyard has several locked sheds along its periphery and lies adjacent to a roomy warehouse. A wooden sign above the front gate reads "Arasek Stockyard."

Parked at the south end of the stockyard is a sturdy carnival wagon, its colorful paint peeling off. Faded lettering on its sides spells out the words "Rictavio's Carnival of Wonders." A heavy padlock secures the back door.

Among the storage sheds is a short squat general store with the lights still on.

Eikka doesn't need much that she doesn't already have so far as I know. I guess we try to supply the fighters and let Luraxt copy a few spells and then on to the next book. Killing vampires was It? Is Luraxt still unaffected by the sun in this valley? If so I see no reason to think that it will be much help against vampires either.

Thank you for selling the parts. Snerp pays the two men the other 5 gold pieces that are owed. How about we just agree to the same tomorrow? Morning meet up at the Tavern? He pulls out another 5, ready to pay half in advance if agreed.

(At 932 gp, so 3 weapons(2 for roberts, 1 for Grahf. Plus Lux copying invisibility to his spell book, = 400gp. So 532 leftover beyond that.)

(Correct, Luraxt is not affected by the sun the way a Drow would expect

Szoldar shrugs and nods in agreement. Same time at Inn. Da.

The store is packed tightly with various odds and ends, as if it was stocked by someone with a hoarding problem. At the far end is a counter manned by a portly married couple.

(The store has everything in the following lists with a base cost of 50gp or less

Snerp walks up to the couple and bows.

Lathanders Blessings upon you. My companions and I came in here in search of silvered weapons, or a means in Vallaki of silvering them. Can you perhaps assist us with pointing us in the right direction?

Gunter: Hmm. Yes, there is a smithy in town who could silver a weapon, if you provided the silver, I'm sure.

Excellent, would you be willing or able to exhange 300 gold pieces for the equivalent amount in silver pieces?

I was also interested in purchasing a couple potions of healing and a flask of holy water. How much would that cost? (This question is less Snerp not knowing, and more an opening to bartering 👍.)

Gunter: Sure, we can make change. As far as prices... hm... Yelena?

Yelena: Old fool. Healing potions are 100 gold each, and holy water is 50 gold apiece.

Hrmmmm, it occurs to me now that my companion has the necessary components for holy water so we can make that ourselves. But perhaps we can come to a more amicable price on the potions? And let me sweeten the pot too. How about, 100 gold for two, and at the festival tomorrow during the feature act that I'll be performing, I will advertise for your general store and give you a stellar recommendation. Just think about the business that will draw in for you. The new customers, the word of mouth generated 👌.

Gunter scratches his head and tries to do some math in his head. Yelena rolls her eyes.

Yelena: So, you buy our products at half price, and in response you'll tell everyone in town about the only general store in town that everyone already knows about?

Snerp laughs jovially upon being found out

Ok, you got me. Can't blame a guy for trying to get a deal. I'll' just take one then and the exchange of 300 gold pieces for it's worth in silver pieces.

He proceed to start transferring 400 gold pieces to the shopkeepers possession. (100 gold pieces for the potion, 300 for the exchange into equivalent silver pieces to get the silver needed for silvering the weapons.)

Once done he leans in and speaks in a hushed tone

You uh, wouldn't happen to have any stock that is, shall we say, less than legal? Poisons beyond the general, trinkets, or other items that you wouldn't display to the general public, would you? 😏

(i thought you had silver dust? Enough to make one holy water?) We need 100gp worth of (solid) silver for a weapon or 10 arrows. So 300 gp worth of solid silver for Roberts(2) and Grahf(1). You have that on you? 😮)

The 100 gold represents mire than the silver but also the time and expertise of crafting. How.much of it is actually silver? Of course you are correct that it could be used for holy water.

(the core books don't really outline the specific amount if silver needed or say, what the cost is if you have silver urself. Based off 1 week to silver a weapon, and 5gp worth per day of downtime standard for crafting, ur looking at 35 for labor costs and 65gp for silver costs, or about 650 silver pieces at 13 pounds of silver? Could totes be totally off in estimating tho)

This makes sense though fmpov, cause silvering weapons is something that is extremely difficult to do and results in alot of wasted silver. Especially in smithing as opposed to "alchemy"(ex: electroplating), cause you can't just "coat" a standard weapon with it.(silver doesn't bond to iron  or steel).

Instead you need to completely reforge the weapon and work the silver in via the "crucible". In laymens terms thats what you pour the molten metal into. And its not as simple as just pouring it in together. What you need to do is essentially pour "layers" of the sword, then get silver and fold the iron over the silvers while the blade is still semi-molten, similar in process to how carbon fibers(which dont bond with metal either) are worked into metals.)

Gunter kneels down close to Snerp.

Poisons and the like, eh? No. No, we don't carry any of that.

He then bursts out laughing, clapping Snerp on the back.
