There is no "line".

There is no magic formula.

If that is your excuse for having no limits on Socialism, so be it.

What exactly is your proposal?

I propose that we need to curtail the amount of Socialism currently present in the USA mix considering our long standing and growing debt problem which has grown faster than the projected GDP growths can accommodate.

Socialism neither causes nor alleviates government corruption.
No, it simply capitalizes on existing corruption, which Americans have tolerated due to a relatively strong economy.

Socialism is not the problem.

Socialism is also not the solution.

Like anything, there needs to be a limit somewhere.

I've never advocated for 100% socialism.  Have fun burning your own straw-man.

According to a new report, the federal government spent $59 Billion on social welfare programs in 2006. While that number is high, it is nearly half of the taxpayer dollars given to assist corporations. That number, a staggering $92 Billion. [LINK]

70% of Americans support raising taxes on people who make over 10 million dollars a year, according to a Fox News poll. [LINK]

Something Sweden has done that I would like to see implemented in the USA is taxation on the poor. Sweden has around 40% taxes on the poor. Taxation on the poor, besides the obvious revenue generated, provides a great incentive for the poor to ask a radically different question at the voting booth. Instead of asking what their country can do for them, they will instead ask the more pertinent question: How are you going to pay for it?

This Swedish policy has done wonders to curtail corruption with a more vigilant electorate concerned about how their personal money is being spent.

You never rejected it either. You specifically said there was no line you would draw.

So while we regular humans understand that the place where the line is drawn, is wherever it is practical and reasonable to draw the line, I think the point greyparrot is trying to make is this:

Because you can’t tell him exactly what the top tax bracket will be, and where it will kick in; because you can’t tell him exactly which social programs and socially beneficial services currently managed by private organizations will be managed by the government; or which will be partially or fully subsidized by the government; and because you are not able to tell him exactly how many laws will be passed concerning providing additional worker rights: Greyparrot is implying that your suggestions may as well be calling for the violent overthrow of the government, and the execution of the Borgeoise by the proletariat, and the complete eradication of the free market.

Of course, I didn’t say it was a good point, but that’s the point he’s making.

Of course we all know that the first step towards the overturning of US democracy and the establishment of a communist oppressive government is by passing central funded healthcare, making it illegal to dump poison in the water, and to make Election Day a federal holiday.

There is no "line".

There is no magic formula.

Each country has its own mix.  Sweden is not the same as Germany.  Finland is not the same as the UK.  Canada is not Japan.

Even China and Russia are a MIX of socialism and capitalism.

Line has nothing to do with mix.

Line is simply a limit.

Again, nobody will understand where you stand if you don't have a limit on anything.

It's funny to watch Liberals be smug about Socialism and Communism while hating the US for being involved in Russia. Which is exactly what they want. To run the US like the KGB. Hence the Patriot Act.

Even the smug leftist media is forced to ask AOC how she is going to pay for her programs. Amazing how the state propaganda machine is compelled to define a limit to Socialism by daring to ask how to pay for it.

Nobody cares what you call it. We just want to know how you are going to pay for it.

I thought you were looking for a specific ratio, which would directly relate to a mix.

Line is simply a limit.
What the heck are you talking about?  Please quantify what you mean by "line".

Again, nobody will understand where you stand if you don't have a limit on anything.
Once again you jump to the conclusion of a hyperbolic, "NO LIMIT ON ANYTHING".  I have no idea how you are measuring "socialism".  Please quantify your preferred scale.  Perhaps you might offer a specific example.

The thing that leftists are being smug about is the complete seemingly complete inability for the right wing to understand that democratic socialism is not the same thing as communism.

It’s like you guys are sitting there thinking that the only way of getting 12 months of paid maternity leave is by eliminating democracy and the free market with goose stepping militia men wearing Bernie t shirts.

"36% of people want the government to control their lives if it means they don't have to work for a living."

If only we taxed our poor like Sweden does, none of these socialist politicians would be welcome at any venue.

I remember the one that thing that struck me most in the last few times I’ve visited Stockholm, is how the country appears to be on the precipice of degenerating into an authoritarian communist dictatorship.

And hey, I moved to Canada from Kansas, and the one defining feature of this new country is how we are under the repressive yoke of an authoritarian dictatorship hell bent on controlling our lives, and resplendent with an underclass who the government pays not to work.
