@ADreamOfLiberty
There are hacker organizations which could target the site if such stuff is promoted on it, I guess.

Also, it could be a matter of owner simply not allowing some speech. Its his site.

You bow to hackers and you don't have free speech. You don't have free speech and you don't have open debate.

Hackers aren't gods, they have limitations, the final advantage is on the side of the server. Given the fact that I have to go through a bunch of captchas every time I login to this site, I would say it's already hardened against DDoS.

The grand sum of "hacking" beyond that can be defeated by a super secret principle known as: Don't tell anyone your password.

I am simplifying a complex subject, but not to the point of inaccuracy. All security breaches are a result of either not using encryption where you need to or of giving away the key in some way.

In the real world hackers don't brute force anything except DDoS attacks.

Also, it could be a matter of owner simply not allowing some speech. Its his site.
"The site could shut down if the owner shuts it down"

Then the owner should put the parameters of that shut down in a charter and make it clear that MEEPs can't contradict the charter.

I understand, but free speech argument was already brought up at the start and mods still said site could shut down if promoting that stuff. If its not hackers, owner not allowing, or losing host place for site, then I dont know what it could be. Driving away users?

This is honestly the weirdest thing I've seen happen on the internet
You must not have explored the Internet at all.

It's not that hard to understand, it is illegal for pedophiles to solicit sex with children on the internet, you can try to unpack that simple statement and make you a victim, you can say, yeah but what if children want it, but none of that matters, it's a simple fact about the internet.

You'll have to get your rocks off some other way.

@fauxlaw
He was being investigated, was facing a forced ban, so he had himself banned, presumably because when the moderators ban you, you can't come back under a different name, it must be the case that under a self-requested ban, you can come back anytime you want.

That's the only thing that makes sense of it, others have been banned, came back before the ban time is up, and been permanently banned for it, can't remember his name but that's how that whack job racist got banned for life, I think.

Apparently, one bans the specific account, the other bans the person.  Looks like it was a smart move on BK's part.

If I cant debate some topic because it upsets people, fine, I wont. If debating is illegal, fine.
