In his first term his primary accomplishment was to cut taxes for the rich, boasting that he would make his wealthy friends “a lot richer”. He also restricted the collective bargaining rights of unions, enacted a rule denying overtime pay to millions of low-wage workers, and enacted a rule allowing employers to pocket workers’ tips.
He took billions out of workers’ pockets by weakening or abandoning regulations that protect workers’ pay and safety, blocked workers from access to the courts by allowing mandatory arbitration clauses in employment contracts and repeatedly tried to take affordable health care away from millions of working people. He reduced the number of workers receiving health insurance by three million during his first term.
He opposed any increase in the minimum wage, proposed a trillion dollars in funding cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and shut down the federal government for 35 days, forcing about 800,000 federal workers and more than 1 million contract workers to go more than a month without pay.
AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler said, “The idea that Donald Trump has ever, or will ever, care about working people is demonstrably false.”
And now MAGA idiots have again swallowed his BS, they foolishly believed “he loves the working class” again, and reelected this lying charlatan so he and his rich friends could turn this country into an oligarchy on the backs of working people.
