EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY

THE TOWN

VERSUS

THE MAFIAAAAAAAAAA

BEGIN!

I did say that I would start this game in the morning, but since I've already sent out all the role PM's, I figured that I may as well start this thread. Since I am starting it early and at night when I don't expect many players to be on, this DP will be given a one-time 12 hour extension.

This is a 10-player game with 2 mafia players. All characters are battles from the Epic Rap Battles of History series. There is a theme split. Day phases will last 72 hours or until a majority of players vote for someone, or a majority vote to lynch no one (VTNL). If no majority is reached by the end of the day, there will be no lynch. Night phases will last 24 hours each. If you have a night action and do not submit it in time, you will automatically waive your action. If you cannot waive, your action will be chosen for you at random.

Rules:
  1. No copy-pasting your role PM or pretending to do so. Paraphrase it instead.
  2. No use of generative AI, including using AI to paraphrase your role PM for you.
  3. No editing or deleting posts.
  4. No conversing about the game outside of the DP threads or any approved chats.
  5. No liking posts after dying.
  6. No ciphers or cryptography.
  7. I reserve the right to add in additional rules as necessary to keep the game fair.
I will not answer questions in-thread, except to give a vote count or a time check. Please direct all other questions to me over PM. Generally speaking, I won't answer questions about roles other than your own. However, questions about flipped roles are generally okay.

Largely just checking in and calling it since it’s late.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen most of these, but I binged them back in grad school and loved the experience. Particularly fond of Oppenheimer vs. Thanos if anyone wants an absurd pairing that somehow works.

Anyway, I’ll collect my thoughts tomorrow.

I’m Steve Jobs squaring off against Bill Gates in an epic rap battle.
My key line of this fight is:
"Let me just step right in, I got things to invent. I'm an innovator, baby, change the world. Fortune 500 ‘fore you kissed a girl. I'm a pimp, you're a nerd, I'm slick, you're cheesy, beating you is Apple II easy"

This epic clash of tech giants settles the Mac vs. PC debate, but halfway through, Jobs transcends to the afterlife and becomes the iconic HAL 9000.
My role? Well... you see..  I am Millionaire. If I die before the end of the game, I can leave a final message for the town at the start of the next Day Phase. I’m with the Town.

Alright, just gonna SOP claim this.

Character: Eastern Philosophers vs Western Philosophers

Role: Paranoid Gun Owner

Justification: Sun Tzu’s made the westerner side fight each other, but ended up also causing his own to team to fight each other. Because everyone ended up fighting each other, I’m the PGO.

I’m more than happy to be a policy lynch unless we find someone better.

Those extra 12 hours will be welcome this game.

No surprise in GP's ERB claim or Pie's for that matter, though the role for the former makes more sense than that for the latter. Not really what I'd expect for PGO, but I guess it's possible.

I suspect many of the most popular ERBs are in this game, though I'm unclear on where the theme split could be, given that there's such a wide variety of fictional characters and real life people used. I don't want to get mired in theme analysis because that usually sends me down the wrong path anyway, but I'll be thinking on some possible splits as the game goes on.

Austin's first post comes off a bit scummy to me. Maybe it's just because of how many times I've played with him specifically. As town he tends to start with posts that move the game forward, whereas when he's scum he's more likely to make posts that try to avoid any suspicion. i.e. "just checking in" or "Pie SOP claiming makes sense" which contributes very little.
