What happened to him and Kohlberger should scare the shit out of everyone. This is the surveillance state in full force. Whether he was in the right or jot is beyond the point, but less than 24 hours after the shooting they knew the hostile he stayed at, every business he went to and his route to and from everywhere during his entire new york stay and they could track him back to Atlanta.

This is exactly why the government needs to be weak. A government that can monitor you this closely is dangerous in the wrong hands.

Do you think the government is benevolent and can be trusted and has never done anything unethical? We need to dismantle the surveillance state.

I will tell you another thing as well. The better the surveillance state, the more black men are disproportionately imprisoned due to the disproportionate amount of crime they commit. You should be very concerned about the inequality caused by your techno-utopian surveillance state

Oh please, even google monitors your every online move. Facebook is basically a mass surveillance system. AI can find anyone in seconds if connected to street cameras.

You guys complain when crime is high. Then when government increases surveillance to fight crime, you then complain about surveillance.

So you hate both the disease and the cure. Just what the fuck is government supposed to do? There is always someone unhappy no matter what government does.

If government doesnt pay for healthcare, then government lets people die. If government pays for healthcare, then government is spending too much. If there is mandatory private health insurance, then too many people get scammed.

Basically, no matter what government does, there is always at least 10% of people who will complain.

This democracy thing is great.

The suspect was identified by a server who recognized him from the police posted pictures and called the cops.

If the jury lets him off, I wonder if he'll be shot by one of the CEO's family members or a hitman hired by the insurance industry. I really hope not, but the precedent has been set, and it's hard to control what comes from that.

I have doubts. Maybe I've missed out, but most of the pictures I've seen of the shooter have been... lacking, at best- so how was he positively identified? I also find it unusual that he was still carrying the weapon. If he made it all the way to Pennsylvania, why didn't he dispose of it? Why still carry it around on his person?

Granted, maybe he's just stupid and got lucky killing the CEO in the first place. But it wouldn't surprise me if this is a frame job to create the appearance of competence, since a lot of this doesn't make sense from the shooter's perspective.

This guy killed a serial killer though. What type of evil person would avenge a serial killer?

You are just now realizing this? That is amazing, fact is when you are in public you are on camera 60% of the time in almost any city in America, and that's been the case for over 20 years.  If you have a cell phone, and everybody has a cell phone, there is a record of your movement going back years.  There is a biometric profile for 90% of the adults in this country. The patterns of your online activities, phone calls, and texting are monitored and recorded.

You haven't had anything resembling privacy outside of your home in decades.

That's the reality of the situation, and it can't be dismantled.

If you want to cope with it, think of it this way, there are bad people out there, we need to be able to track them, it is a matter of our security, but don't worry about me or you, anybody spending their time tracking us, has way too much time on their hands.

I made a very good living selling large data and security networks for decades, billion and billions have gone into security systems in Federal, State, Local governments, and of course the military.  Homeland security pumped billions and billions into these networks, the military and state and local law enforcement put in billions, the infrastructure that can track us is formidable, you really can't get off the grid anymore, you better just learn to live with it.

Details about the arrest of the shooter.
But it was ultimately a McDonald's customer that recognised the suspect from media coverage and alerted an employee, who tipped off the police.
According to authorities in Pennsylvania, officers were called to a report of a "suspicious male" who resembled the suspect in Thompson's murder.
When police arrived at the fast-food restaurant, Mr Mangione showed them a fake New Jersey driver's licence with the name Mark Rosario, said court papers.
He "became quiet and started to shake" when an officer asked if he had been to New York recently, the criminal complaint adds.
When he was told he would be arrested if he lied about his name, he gave his real name, Luigi Mangione, according to the court papers.
Asked why he lied, he told officers that "I clearly shouldn't have", said the court papers.
A search of his backpack uncovered a 3D-printed pistol, a 3D-printed silencer and a loaded magazine with six rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Prosecutors said he was also carrying a US passport and $10,000 cash, $2,000 of it in foreign currency, though Mr Mangione disputed the amount in court.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Paranoia is.

And surveillance will be.

And if you haven't been naughty,

Don't worry.

We're currently in a transitional phase.

We're always in a transitional phase.

So if you desire your techno gizmo so much,

It might have ramifications.

You can always have an insurrection or topple democracy and put a fascist dictator in charge

You can't if the surveillance state gets too good. We're stuck with an oligarchy at the moment and installing a temporary dictator to restore democracy seems off the table. It's a great suggestion though. I like how you think
