Because in games that involve mutually assured destruction, the less reasonable or more crazy somebody is, the more the other side has to back down. It's why women usually win custody disputes. They are less mentally stable and it is a mutually assured destruction style game.
The left can't have it both ways. You can't simultaneously claim that Trump is an unhinged maniac, while also claiming he would not be superior at a game where the most unhinged maniac always wins.
