I read the title of this thread, and before confirming, I knew it was Roosevelt.

Classic Roosevelt.

We get it.  You hate Trump.  However, a lot of people don't.

You can scream, "Trump is a Nazi" all you want, it won't get MAGA people to vote against Trump.

You want people to vote against Trump?  Then come up with something new other than, "Trump is (insert bad trait here).".  Your current strategy isn't working; find something else.

Those Libertarians are bad news. The most useless citizens we have.
Libertarians hate Trump.  See how Trump did at the Libertarian convention.

Yes, because they’re morons!
Well, in order to get them to hate Trump, you can't call them, "Morons" because even though people have the instinct to do that, it makes MAGA world more inclined to vote for Trump.  It's not even that they inheritely like Trump, but they hate the people associated with Biden (you).  Trump is very pro LGBT; but most gay people vote against him because a lot of the people that love Trump are homophobic evangicals from the Bible belt.  If Trump's main support was from Upstate NY, then LGBT people would feel more confterable voting for Trump.

Idiots deserve nothing but derision
Don't expect the people you derise to change their position on Trump.

But they are more opposed to Democrats than Republicans.
Generally speaking, this is true because republicans dog whistle, "small government" more than the democrats.  But I'm pretty sure people like Chase Oliver are more democrat than republican.

If someone says Barack Obama was born in Kenya, then you counter that with a google search that proves he was born in Hawaii.

I don’t know about that.  My grandfather is someone who believes Obama is Muslim (and probably believes Obama was born in Africa).  He also hates Trump and is not voting for him in 2024.

So many people just don’t do their research, but that doesn’t make them racist.

Fair, but in this society we live in where virtually nobody wants to be seen as racist, how do you determine who is racist vs who isn't racist?

They say racist things like Obama wasn’t born in America and all the voters in the cities (blacks) cheat in the election. Detroit, Atlanta, Philadelphia…you know, where all the black people live.

Because they believe Trump isn't racist.  It's to the point where if someone says, "I don't think Trump is racist", then it's almost certain they are a Trump supporter.  You can strongly disagree with this, but it's what a lot of the country believes.

They say racist things like Obama wasn’t born in America
That is a good point, however maybe Trump just doesn't trust the consensus (in this case, reality).  Like, there was a long time when I was a kid where I thought Obama was born in Illinois and then I learned he was born in Hawaii.  Like I asked my rural Missouri grandparents who are staying here (people that think Obama is a Muslim because Trump told them too but wouldn't vote for Trump because they think he's racist) and they said they just don't look stuff up; so whatever Trump says, they believe.  If you geniunely believe Obama was born in Africa rather than the US, then you are probably gullable; not racist.  Trump should do his research if he actually wants to run for POTUS.

all the voters in the cities (blacks) cheat in the election
This is a reference to election workers; not voters.  A reference I don't agree with because I believe Biden won in 2020, but not a reference to black voters.

Detroit, Atlanta, Philadelphia…you know, where all the black people live.
All of these cities are in battleground states.  Trump knows he has no chance of winning Illinois; he doesn't accuse Chicago of rigging the ballots.  Same thing for Camden, NJ or Saint Louis, MO.  He mentioned these cities because they are in relatively battleground states.

Do you believe that most racists throughout history believe they are racist and freely admit it?

If you geniunely believe Obama was born in Africa rather than the US, then you are probably gullable; not racist.
Well this would support my assertion that Trump supporters are morons then, right?

Incorrect. Perhaps you don’t look stuff up any better than your aforementioned family. The MAGA MORONS accused election workers and the voters themselves of cheating in 2020.

He mentioned these cities because they are in relatively battleground states.
and because they have significant black populations

I believe most racists are dead, but if alive in their time, then the answer is yes due to the social acceptance of racism back then.

Well this would support my assertion that Trump supporters are morons then, right?
The ones that think Obama was born in Africa are probably ignorant, but not morons.  You aren't a moron if you think Maine borders Massachusetts without knowing better.  You are a moron if you have proof presented that Maine does not border Massachusetts and you stand your ground on that belief.

The MAGA MORONS accused election workers and the voters themselves of cheating in 2020.
Usually, from what I've seen is they accuse them of voting multiple times.  This is a stupid claim to make.  Every time I go to vote, they cross off my name based of the precinct I'm in and I can only vote in one precinct.

He mentioned these cities because they are in relatively battleground states.

and because they have significant populations (race not mattering).  It's easier to find 11000 extra people who voted for you in Atlanta than some small Georgian town.

Do you know any black people that think most racists are dead?

Again, you are making my point for me. MAGA MORONS repeatedly have proof presented to them that what they believe is false, but they refuse to alter their beliefs. They refuse to accept facts. This includes proof that Obama was born in Hawaii.

and because they have significant populations (race not mattering).  It's easier to find 11000 extra people who voted for you in Atlanta than some small Georgian town.
So you think it’s just a coincidence that most of the voting areas Trump cast doubt on were areas with large black populations. And the fact his supporters would readily accept a theory that the black people cheated just happened to benefit Trump but was not intentional by him. Ok great.

are you spiritually tied to the phrase “MAGA MORONS”?
I’m an atheist. Religion is for old people and dopes.
Someone not in this conversation reported this. This is an example of a time to not report something. Sure somewhat abrasive, but also genuinely funny!

It's even more funny if you picture Roosevelt as being the age of the actual president Roosevelt. An ancient old man talking about those damned old geezers who aren't ancient yet, making all the same mistakes as the ancient old man made when he was comparatively young.

This statement is contradictory.

But if you believe in helping and uplifting the poor, then GP is part of that (even if he votes against your party).  So you insulting him by being a poor substitute teacher goes against your ethos.  If GP had that job and was a leftist, then you wouldn't react that way.

I would suggest that a successful social environment relies upon successful people to make it work.

Wouldn't Numpties just fuck everything up if it was left to them?

I'm not sure that the differences between Republican Democrats and/or Democratic Republicans boils down to a success issue.

I'm thinking that it's more of a social ideology issue.

No genius read it again.

An environment for success fosters a society where everyone can get their share of the American dream.

It includes good schools, safe neighborhoods, a healthy environment with clean air and drinking water, affordable housing, a fair tax system, and jobs that can provide a living wage.

An environment for the successful fosters a concentration of wealth for the very few. It rewards wealth over work, saves the best schools and opportunities for people who are already wealthy, prioritizes safety in rich neighborhoods, as well as clean air and water in rich neighborhoods, has a regressive tax system and exploits labor in favor of those who own businesses.

So you insulting him by being a poor substitute teacher goes against your ethos.  If GP had that job and was a leftist, then you wouldn't react that way.
There’s no doubt that GP is poorly educated and in the lower class with regard to income. I’m not insulting him for being poor, I’m remarking on how poorly he has done in life by simply stating a fact to point out the irony of his political views. I do want everyone to be able to earn a living, but thinking we all do better when wealth is concentrated at the top and supporting Trump is like the chickens voting for Colonel Sanders.

Here you define, "successful" as middle class or richer.

An environment for the successful fosters a concentration of wealth for the very few.
Here, you define, "successful" as rich but not middle class.

Pick one definition of, "successful" and stick with it.

Oh I see. You live in a world where there are no degrees or levels of success.

Obviously, that’s dumb.

When I said the government should create an environment for success, it means they should create a society where everyone has the opportunity to be successful.
We don’t need to define what success is but obviously it involves not being in need of help from others to live their life.

An environment for the successful would be a society where people with money get the lions share of the benefits society has to offer.

An example of an environment for the successful-   The best schools are only available or largely only available to children of the wealthy regardless of  intellectual abilities or work ethic.

Since your ethos as a leftist is being anti unwanted pain (AUP), this is understandable.

To try and make your argument more appealing to right wingers, stop saying stuff like:

We need to raise taxes on the rich and use the money to fund healthcare for low income Americans!
And replace it with talking points like this:

We need to raise taxes on the globalists and use the money to fund healthcare for American PATRIOTS!
Since, "American Patriots" is vague, you can define it as anyone who loves America so much that they want to live in it (so this would technically include undocumented immigrants).

The right is going to have to pick between being anti Medicare for all or being pro globalist (since they hate the globalists, they might just end up agreeing with you on Medicare for all).  If you claim you are either pro UHC or pro globalist and lean into that, it would get a lot of people on the right to either be silent or end up agreeing with you (because they don't want to be seen as pro globalist).

Now, I don't agree with UHC because I'm of the LUSHOOTY ideology (Liberty Unless Significantly Harming Others Or Too Young).  But you, as the AUP supporter would back Medicare for all for even the undocumented paid for by raising taxes on the globalists.  I don't have too much of an issue with the globalists; I don't think they should be forced to pay for the health bills of strangers.  But if you disagree, then it's understandable.

That is exactly what Medicare does. Why does Medicare for old people make sense but not Medicare for young adults?

Medicare taxes rich people the most  to buy healthcare for old people who retired with very little to show for their working life.

And nobody wants to insure old people because it’s a money loser.
