Description
Which one is better? I think College Buddies, as it was made later when Sequeira had more experience. This debate is open for anybody with knowledge of Nicolas Sequeira's work.
Round 1
Thank you for accepting, Sir. Here is my opening round, then:
College Buddies is funnier because in College Buddies, Sequeira uses a wide range of tactics. Herman is there, of course, but he doesn't overpower the scenes. Herman The Hitchiker always felt like an immature product to me- made when Sequeira was young and inexperienced. It's not very accurate and its reliance on stoner humor makes it feel like a knockoff version of Cheech & Chong. College Buddies is the winner for me, because here Sequeira goes straight for the jugular of Conservatives, not obsessive potheads. I think College Buddies is better. The layout and plot is threaded together nicely.
I await your next argument.
Well, looks like I'll waive this round first.
Round 2
All right, Sir. I noticed you took a while to post your first argument. I suggest you post arguments quicker so you don't run out of time. Just a bit of advice.
I will elaborate further. I have had the opportunity of reading all 40 original issues of Herman The Hitchhiker. I have found only 3 issues I enjoy- the first one, the one in prison, which is a classic, and the one in Denver. The Mafia, introduced later, is not compelling or likable. Whereas Bob, Rob and Snob are complex, two dimensional characters, I feel that The Mafia is evil for the sake of being evil. Bob, Rob and Snob are stupid because the world around them is stupid. They are interesting products of their time. Herman The Hitchhiker gets old after he lights up for the 400th time. I am glad the entire College Buddies trilogy has been released. These issues humanize Herman in a way that his own original series was unable to.
I await your next argument.
