Description
Is AfD a terrible party?
Round 1
In 9.2 "Immigration from Other EU Countries," the AfD seeks to reestablish national authority by limiting freedom of movement and reorienting EU legislation. They imply that people come to Germany for the wrong reasons and that immigrants abuse their rights. "He has to adapt to his new host country, not the other way around," the AfD says in 9.4 "Integration is More Than Just Learning the German Language," demonstrating its rejection of a multicultural society. In addition to adjusting to German culture, immigrants should be allowed to preserve their language and culture for coming generations. Assuming that these immigrants only seek aid, they assert in 9.5 "Create Transparency in the Costs of Immigration" that "Immigrants with low qualifications primarily enter the country by abusively applying for asylum..."
I win this debate if I refute the claim that AfD is a terrible party. If I convince you that AfD is a good, neutral, or bad party, then I win, so long as it is not below bad, which would make it terrible.
Reasons for Germany to Oppose Immigration:
- The idea of a cultural mixing-pot is scary to many German traditionalists who see assimilation as a destructive force.
- Immigrants coming into Germany are generally poorer than German natives. An open immigration policy would stress Germany’s social welfare system.
- Rapid demographic change would cause further social instability in Germany, which is already unstable.
You may still not like what AfD has to say about immigration, but it is a fact that AfD holds many deeply German values. If AfD did not exist, then many Germans would be politically unrepresented. Due to Hitler's legacy, many Germans have (until very recently) faced social backlash and even censure for siding with any right-wing, nationalistic parties like AfD.
OOPS, 1,000 character limit !
"they are a terrible party because the liberals don't like them, like they like the traditional conservatives who kiss their ass and make no progress"
