Animal rights

Why do I eat
Why am I hungry
I dont want to consume meat
I dont want to consume death

The suffering that spread
The suffering now everywhere
The lives lived in dread
The lives that lead nowhere

Animals are like us
Animals are not us
Do we need to destroy
All that is not us

Do they not suffer, do they not feel
The wounds we give them are real
The suffering in endless factory of food
The suffering we say for them is good

When we feel pain, we want it to go away
When they feel pain, we justify it to stay
We gave ourselves the title of executioner
We are their judge, jury and executioner

We decide which animals are happy and free
We decide which animals are beaten, hunted and eaten
How can a fair world exist here
How can only one decide then

What if roles between us were reversed
What if we were the ones who were used
While others decided our faith
While others locked our gates

If our purpose is to torment all others
Then we are a mistake of our fathers
If our species follow a devouring crave
Then we belong in a devouring grave

The purpose for us is to improve all
The purpose is not to make others fall
To rise together, towards happy place
To do anything else would be a disgrace

Our existence can be as great as Sun
Which benefits all and everyone
Which uses its energy to help life
Such way of action is divine strife

Our light can shine to benefit those who are not us
Our light can burn and destroy those who are not us
We were given the light and we can use it as we please
We were made into Gods and into world we were released

I cannot think of an animal as someone
While thinking of myself as no one
I cannot think of an animal as no one
While thinking of myself as someone

The more common I have with an animal
The more I become an animal
The more common animal has with me
The more the animal becomes me

With neither being anyone's master
We can go to our free lives faster
And no one's life will be a disaster
Because I am not anyone's master

Red Noise

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
it’s said.
That is well and good when the world
is filled with nothing but beauty, when
all the eye can see is a thing, a soul,
an animal that man has grown to love.

But this is not our world, it has never been.
Although in the centre of our retinae is one
animal, sheltered, cared for, loved, at the
periphery of our vision lay the others, squealing,
bloodied, ripped apart and uncared for.

We stare ahead still, pretending not to see;
but we do, because the blood gets far
it splashes on our hands, it splashes in
our field of view; yes, yes, we see,
we do see it rather well, yet we’re
good at blocking it out, as there is
so much of it that it is now nothing
but red noise so easy to ignore.
