Description
There are many people who think that America was founded on Christian Principles. Pro takes the position that America was indeed founded as a Christian country, and Con takes the opposite view.
Rules:
-The burden of proof is on both sides.
-Sources are limited to .org and .gov.
-The topic must stay on the mentioned positions.
Round 1
America is not a Christian Nation because the founding fathers built this nation with the intention of making it secular as opposed to theocratic. The evidence of that is found in the First Amendment.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
If the founding fathers of this great nation intended to create a Christian nation, then such intentions would have been evident in their framework of government. Not only is there no mention of any God in the Constitution, but God cannot be used in any legal argument or matter of state. A clear example of what the Constitution would look like if it were meant to be Christian in nature can be found in the CSA Constitution. Were God is mentioned and credited in its pages.
That took ya a while.
Unfortunately I would have to forfeit. School for me is about to start because summer vacation is ending in a few days. I got a few aps so ill need to lock it in for the year.
Im trying to finish the last debates that were already well under way, but since ours just started, I think its better i just forfeit.
