Ex review! What's so bad about it? Look at every day services provided: restaurants, TV shows, movies, almost everything that serves, has a review app nowadays! Reviewing people might sound bad at first look, but when you think about it deeper, don't a lot of people do the same thing already? Look at Reddit: /r/relationship_advice tells of the personal sob stories for people to help them and guide them through their troubles. Now we don't have to ask everybody around, those who have bad relationships can now post and review their Ex's!

Now onto the app! The App will provide a service platform for people to easily browse through searching through people. You'll know their personality and story through a personal experience. And if the other Ex is smart, they might post their side of the story too. You'll know who admitted their faults, who might be too crazy, and who got hurt through the app. Just think about it: it's not a crime to be a jerk, but it certainly won't help your future dating experiences! Better to know now than later, so you won't get hurt again. The Ex Review app will also help profile potential abusers in case they try to hide their history, and require some serious reconciliation to make up for past mistakes! Look at the Restaurants' service as an example. We've all seen the tear jerking reviews where the man leaves the 100$ tip for the waiter. Or perhaps the brain bashing refusal of service, and a poorly maintained building. Just like that, we can tell what kind of person they are from the Ex review app.

I’ll answer Pro’s case next round (2K character limit).

First, this is a massive privacy violation. The app seems like it would be a socially acceptable space to provide information that’s very personal within a relationship (e.g. what their sex life was like, things their ex told just them). This is (1) likely quite damaging to an ex’s mental health, regardless of whether they have the ability to respond and (2) a violation of their consent, as their personal information belongs to them and a partner breaks their trust by sharing it. The app facilitates both this psychological harm and this violation of autonomy, which is unjust. (1) is a significant harm. As an analogy, Kilovaty 2021 finds that data breaches lead to “depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other related conditions” – this is akin to a data breach from someone who knows most things about an ex’s life. (2) is an independent harm to justice.

Second, this makes moving on from relationships harder. This is true of app users themselves, who spend time thinking and processing bad experiences from a breakup a bunch on the app, and it’s true of the exes, who have to confront accusations against them and revisit a bad relationship. Remember, people are disproportionately likely to use an ex review app when the breakup is bad, as even leaving a positive review feels like it could be a privacy violation if you wanna remain on good terms with an ex. Pro might argue people choose to use the app, but I suspect people are actually stuck in a prisoner’s dilemma: if their ex uses the app to post comments on them, they feel obliged to join the app and respond, which causes them to have to use the app as well. Furthermore, the app would end up becoming a social expectation in some circles (e.g. people on some dating apps), further increasing coercive pressure to use the app. Additionally, the app is likely to be more negative about people than they deserve, if breakups are so bad (e.g. false accusations).

I doubt many would actually rate their ex a 5 star. I respect those who potentially do, but I doubt there will be a lot of them.

As an actual Chinese I should remind you that the social credit score doesn't work like that. I reckon it does go down if you commit crimes, evade taxes, fail to pay loans, etc. It goes back up when you pay loans on time, etc. Even then, at least it isn't the IRS telling FBI on your door for your jail cell.

Ideological skirmishes are instead being handled by whatever moderators are on the website hosting such discussions. These have nothing to do with the "social credit score" unless it leads to a crime being committed such as planning to launder money.

And yes, I believe the system the topic is trying to impose is more depressing than whatever yall call "the social credit score system" since most adults in this world have exes. In fact, since the reasons exes are exes are due to ideological skirmishes, this would on average defame most of the population that is still on the market or even off the market. I really wanna laugh as a single young man, but I probably shouldn't given the inherent depressing nature of the proposed system.

It'd have to be weighted... Like if you give all three people in the comments 5 stars, and never anything else, those 5 should register as three (or maybe 3.something). Likewise if you rated us each as 1 star, and had not done any of those 5 star reviews, the 1s should be averaged to about 3.

So the Chinese credit system but for dating?
In America we pride ourselves on freedom and privacy. One of such privacies includes the right to withhold previous relationship information from your current lover for whatever reason.
This is also just dehumanizing as a whole, degrading humans to a scale based off of others' opinions. No relationship will have any sentimental value, just a credit score.
