Description

The propeller suit is Mario's best power-up for a real life combat situation. That is my claim.
So to win this debate, you must give me an example of a power-up that would be better suited for a real life combat situation.

You can use power-ups from any Mario game released by Nintendo.

My logic:
In a real life combat situation, escape is almost always your best option.
The propeller suit allows a quick and easy escape onto any nearby ledges.
Thus, the propeller suit is Mario's best power-up for a real life combat situation.

The propeller suit could also be used as an offensive tool, if the need would arise.
Imagine activating the propeller suit in conjunction with an uppercut.
Your opponent would literally go flying.

I rest my case.

In a real life combat situation, the enemy may have a gun, so the propeller suit will not bring you of harms way. The Invincibility Leaf does as its name suggest and makes you totally invincible to all harm, except falling into lava or out of the world, which is not an issue in real life. Moreover, anything you touch will be defeated instantly. You also gain the ability to hit with your tail and even fly and glide after a brief run up. The invincibility leaf is superior in every way to the propeller suit.

You won. . .
OR DID YOU???
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines best as:
Offering or producing the greatest advantage, utility, or satisfaction.
In a real life combat situation, what is Mario's best power up?
Landing a flying uppercut would result in high levels of satisfaction.
Thus, the propeller suit is Mario's best power-up for a real life combat situation.

You won't feel all that satisfied when your arm gets sliced right before the uppercut with knife or when you are shot while running at them. To be invincible is going to be really satisfied. Plus you are ignoring the other words in the definition. The Invincibility Leaf provides orders of magnitute great advantage in a combat situation. With the proppeler suit a random thug could beat you if he got lucky or had a weapon. With the Invincibility Leaf you could reverse-jump the entire mafia. That will give you a very satisfying sense of power.

This is how the US government would deal with somebody in a propeller suit:
  1. A crazy man in a propeller suit is spotted in a suburban neighborhood.
  2. Some police officers show up at the man's house to assess his mental stability.
  3. The police officers then perform a drug test and leave.
This is how the US government would deal with an invincible raccoon hybrid:
  1. Animal control receives reports of a raccoon hybrid.
  2. Animal control tranquilizes the wild beast without a hiccup.
  3. The government takes the KO'd raccoon hybrid off to a secret base in Alaska.
  4. Remember, the invincibility leaf does not give one the ability to break out of a cell made with solid steel.
  5. Now there is a new urban legend about the invincible raccoon man.

PRO is getting desperate. He understands that the propeller suit is not the best power up for a real life combat scenario, so now he tries to seqway into analysis of long-term consequences. But the resolution clearly only asks about what power up would be best there and then when the bad guy aims a weapon at you. Everything afterwards is outside the scope of the debate. That said, the propeller suit is probably illegal, unless you have a licence to build and operate flying machines. When it comes to the Invincibility Leaf, while it does make you invincible, that effect is only temporary, until the end of the level, or in this case, the real life combat situation. Afterwards it vanishes. Why would the government even believe a story about a ginormous invincible racoon. That argument doesn't make much sense. Even if they shoved up when the fight was already over, all they would find is a normal human. They would assume that either the racoon left or was just made up. But if it was permanent like PRO claimed, even better. You just take off the cumbersome racoon suit and now you have invincibility for the rest of your life with no downsides. PRO claims Mario could not escape from a steel prison, but remember, this is a guy who crushes brick walls with his bare hands, and who casually carries around metric tonnes of gold while sprinting. And with my power up, he can defeat dinosaurs just by touching them with his fingers. Of course he could break free from whatever prison they put him in. And unless he let them they could not even capture him to begin with.

You won. . .
OR DID YOU???
See, the invincibility leaf is powered by Mario's previous deaths, but in real life, nobody re-spawns.
Even if you got the invincibility leaf without dying first, it simply wouldn't work.

In a real life combat situation, what is Mario's best power up?
NOT THE INVINCIBILITY LEAF

PRO has conceeded that the Invincibility Leaf is the superior power up for real life self defense. Now he argues that you wouldn't be able to obtain it in real life which is a meaningless Kritik, since we are assuming that the real life Mario is getting his power ups directly from his games, and doesn't have to replicate them in real life using physics and logic.

You can use power-ups from any Mario game released by Nintendo.
What part of this line in the description leads PRO to believe that I am limited to the items that Mario could plausibly obtain in the real world? None that I can see, so he is just moving the goalpost. PRO says the Invincibility leaf is powered by your previous deaths. That is not true. Just because the game gives you an item to complete a level you are stuck on, that doesn't mean the leaf is canonnically fueled by the soul of your previous lives. PRO is arbitrarily mixing video game logic and real life logic to make his argument. I can do the same to crush his case. Just look at the propeller suit, it is just a helmet with a propeller. That wouldn't work in real life either. There is no space for a motor, and if the propellers did spin the helmet would just rip your head. This is because the neck cannot support the weight of the entire body, especially not when accelerating upwards. If we assume the items work like in the games, like we should, then the Invincibility Leaf is way better.

But if voters still buy into PRO's argument, consider the Mario Star. It too makes Mario invincible, as well as faster and  able to run through brick walls. And this is an item you pick up from lucky boxes, not one you get at the start of the level. So there is no feasible way for PRO to argue that real life Mario cannot obtain it. And it too is better than the propeller suit.

Conclusion
There is no way in hell that the propeller suit is Mario's best power up for real life combat situations. Therefore, PRO loses.
