The musical genre of "hip-hop" is not very easy to take seriously, especially in comparison with more sophisticated, high-brow music such as classical, jazz, blues, soul, etc. This is not to say it's bad or to dismiss the entire genre as a whole, but let's not pretend that your average rapper should be taken just as seriously as a typical classical composer because one clearly operates at a higher rate of artistry than the other.
Think of all the rappers we tend to take seriously: 2Pac, Biggie, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, J. Cole, Big L. What are they good at? Saying words that sound good or meaningful to people. Sure, it takes a lot of skill to do that, but the question is are they entertaining? If you're a rapper and you're not entertaining me or keeping me engaged, why am I listening to you? Kendrick and Cole may have thoughtful lyrics but their sentiments bleed together and they sound more like they're trying to be meaningful as opposed to........well.......being meaningful. Kanye West is very ambitious given his success in the rap game but he isn't the most creative or convincing artist you'll ever ever hear. 2Pac was a nerd who took himself too seriously and Biggie's lyrics just plain sucked (****as gettin' smoked g, believe me). Big L threw rhymes around while also being boring. Eminem is the best of these rappers as his music was fun, catchy and technical all at once. Alas, he still fell flat in some areas, especially in his "motivational" songs where he raps about being motivational instead of actually motivating people. Plus Revival sucked worse than concentration camps.
So what does it take to be the best rapper of all time? Well, it takes a lot of things: personality, capability, embracement, confidence, entertainment value, and charisma. Who has all of these combined? Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit.
Fred Durst is the most fun rapper ever, the most entertaining rapper ever, has a ton of confidence and personality and charisma and his raps are entertaining and silly and he fully embraces the fact that hip-hop is really stupid and gay. His fans would smother Kendrick's fans if they ever came into contact and that's a fact. You can't get confident listening to To Pimp a Butterfly, but you can from listening to Significant Other.
thats it for now im bored hahahah dont argue or ill break your face
he saved him so youre proving my point brah
