Elon Musk Should Bring Back Vine

First off, I'd like to thank my opponent for accepting my debate.

Now, I will start my argument and establish my side.

Vine was a six second or under long video app, where people usually shared memes and jokes. Some of the most iconic sounds on the internet can be seen from vines made by users on that platform. It was sort of like TikTok, but shorter, and in my opinion, better. 

Vine was bought out by Twitter and shut down, I believe due to a loss of money, although I'm not entirely sure. Twitter now owns the company, and Vine has all vines on there archived. Since then, nothing else has been done with the franchise.

Elon Musk, as we know, has bought Twitter as of Early 2023 on April 4th. He has given many banned accounts back to their users, including many Republicans which makes Elon hated by many. Since Twitter isn't censoring as much "misinformation" as the left calls it, Twitter is now even more political than before. Setting this aside, Elon did mention that he indeed was considering bringing Vine back. There hasn't been any official announcements of when/if he'll actually bring it back, as far as I know of. 

Although I sadly never had the chance to make an account on Vine myself, I've seen various reels of vines on Youtube, and I've seen how people miss the nostalgia. I, for one think it should be brought back. It looked like such a happy and wholesome place, nothing like TikTok's toxic platform. It was before TikTok, and I think TikTok was one of the reasons Vine digressed in popularity. I think we're all sick of all the things TikTok has done to our youth. They've taught vandalism, leftist propaganda, and just make people even more stupid then they already are. We need a break from this app, and that break could be Vine.

As much as I love Vine, and still do, this would be a huge mistake. 

Elon is a severely right-wing person. Bringing back Vine would benefit him greatly, therefore funding him.

Tiktok does have some very bad sides. But not all of it is bad. You state that it's spreading left-wing propaganda, which is entirely untrue.

Vine should not be brought back, because it would be monetized and fund Musk.

Since I was not a member of Vine, I would like to ask, why would it be a mistake? Were there things on Vine that were damaging, or harmful challenges like on TikTok? I cannot say I know everything that went on in the platform and therefore I would like to hear your experience on it. 

I do think that Vine would benefit all of the former creators, no matter their political ideology. I don't see why Elon Musk gaining money from it would be a bad thing necessarily, other than the fact he already has so much money.

I have to ask, did Vine pay creators for making content, or only pay the developers? If it's the second, then I could see why you wouldn't want this to happen, seeing that your political ideology does not align with his. 

In response to your question, Vine creators only got paid in "exposure" and the creators were the ones that got paid.

I read the source, and now I understand. I don’t have anything else to argue, and I do agree Vine made a mistake in doing so. I see why you wouldn’t want it to come back.
