Description
Full resolution: On Net Balance, Beginning from the outbreak of COVID-19, on a big picture, United States' response (national level of actions, results, etc.) is preferable to China's Response.
Burden of proof is shared.
We will debate about what matters in this debate, freedom, lives, restrictions, etc. Since Preference is subjective. We will be debating which country's actions caused the most benefits to the people.
Round 1
I’m a little bit busy so I’ll open with a simple core ideal: better to die a free man than live as a slave. Everyone knows America is the country that was reprimanded for being too free. There were next to zero restrictions and that caused hundreds of thousands of deaths, which I will not try to deny. Even if con argues these deaths were of innocents, they made their choice. There were plenty of available prevention methods: staying at home, wearing masks, social distancing, so on and so forth. The people were free to take their risk and choose their lives, and they died as free men. On the other hand, China may be close to zero cases but they are paranoid and execute their political regime with an iron thumb, even a single Covid positive forces them to live in horrible conditions and be separated from their family. And not only are they living as slaves, they are dying as slaves too. Just the other day some 20 people died of starvation due to Xin Jiang Quarantine practices (https://www.rfa.org/english/news/uyghur/ghulja-starvation-09212022160907.html/ampRFA). This makes the practice even worse as they are suffering in daily life and cannot find a good way to relieve themselves from the dictatorship that Xi jin ping is enforcing. If we say chinas way is better than US then you are saying we can use any means of justification to oppress the people and say they can’t decide how to live. Will you prohibit suicide? Will you prohibit people from smoking which damages their bodies? Will you prohibit them from drinking a little too much at the pub? How much is too much? Chinas arbitrary restriction of freedom to such a degree and locking down millions of people has not only brought its people to depression, it has also restricted trade. It’s said that China’s economy has costed $46 billion per month, (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-29/china-lockdowns-cost-at-least-46-billion-a-month-academic-says), while at least US business has slowly recovered over time and is doing remarkably well. The economy has reached pre pandemic level, and the recovery was said to be exceptionally strong from experts (https://home.treasury.gov/news/featured-stories/the-us-economic-recovery-in-international-context). Rejecting your Allie’s and your peoples social interactions is not the way to go. US’s methods are definitely superior.

what i think is this. This is con-favoured but definitely losable if voters sympathise with your causes of libertarianism enough.
Your rating vs where i'm at... that drop will hurt me a lot.
risk vs reward, i admit you're able to beat me at this topic potentially and don't fancy the risk of that drop.
get your rating to the 1600s and i'll perhaps risk a topic like this, it really is a numbers game. I am genuinely aiming to be number one rated now and this just isnt worth it to me.
I would take Con on this topic if I were less busy. How about a reservation on such a topic later?
what do you think? is US's massive life loss count controversial, or actually not compared to China's insane policies?
