- Regardless, in addition to all that was said by con, we have to adhere to certain axiomatic presuppositions because they are self-evident, and serve as the foundation for our goals in life. We cannot peruse any form of truth, nor can we form a functional society if we do not adhere to the law of identity. For instance, if we deny that all things are equal to themselves, all murder and rape would become permissible because the action is being performed on someone who is not themselves.
