Description
Pixel art is a popular way to design a game and usually works extremely efficiently for any type of game. I, and another contender, who, is my opponent, may argue about this until the end of the living universe to figure this out.
Round 1
Pixel art is very easy to the eye, and allows you to focus more on content then anything else.
Pixel art is no longer a good idea.
It is like using the cheapest, lamest paint and expecting people to call your painting good, it just can be good for pixel art and that is usually only because of the game mechanics.
If you were a man with a pixel art body and I were a man with 2022 CGI top tier graphics, which man is your girlfriend going to leave you for?
Be honest. She would say you were a good idea until I came along.
This debate is metaphorically you trying to make gamers be a barely satisfied woman in a crap with a guy who does the minimum required to say 'hi, I count as a functional graphics boyfriend.'
Go ahead, show us what your gaming girlfriend is dating in Round 2. Show us your pixel art glory.
Just be ready to be in tears by Round 3, because I will show every other graphics style and let the readers decide why every decent game moved away from mere pixel graphics.
If you want your game to barely sell and be deemed 0/5 stars visually, use pixel graphics in 2022.

"If you want your game to barely sell and be deemed 0/5 stars visually, use pixel graphics in 2022."
Ignore the fanbase of any of them, some indie games intend to use pixel art as a way to invoke nostalgia, or they just like doing so.
There are pros and cons to both.
Also is the debate only about in the context of video games?
I like undertale a lot, and it's really nice that it can be run on almost any computer system. There's no barrier to entry like there is for HD graphics FPS games like Apex or the new Halo. But there's a lot more of a spectrum than two genres. Doom wasn't a "pixel art" game, it had as high quality graphics as you could realistically get on the computer systems of the time. I'm not old enough to feel nostalgia for games like that but I can see why some people would.
Another thing I appreciate about pixel art is the room it leaves for artistic interpretation. you can draw fanart of a 8 bit sprite basically however you want bc there weren't any details before.
Yes, prosecution will. And I'm fine with that. Too complex and realistic games hurt my eyes. I generally prefer sonic the hedgehog graphics to Microsoft Flight Simulator graphics.
False dichotomy, hmm?
Prosecution gonna have a case as high quality as Sonic the Hedgehog graphics ya feel me?
You should be charged with criminal offenses if you genuinely think pixel art is bad, rational madman.
