Description
The feminism that is broadcasted on social media today, as well news networks, is far beyond asking for equality. What the movement is calling for today is beginning to have more detrimental than positive characteristics.
Round 1
Many women in the public eye that are pushing feminist narratives, may not be in touch with what women truly want. They are speaking of issues such as this: there are not a comparable number of women high on the corporate ladder because the system is sexist.
It is true that there may be elements of prejudice attached to gender in the corporate world. However it is not true that that is the biggest factor. To be highly successful in that field means spending enormous amounts of time at the office, sacrificing social engagement and family activities and pushing yourself to your limits of exhaustion. There are many women completely capable of this; however, a woman like this may have different priorities. It is often the case that the thing close to a mature woman’s heart is to have a family, and to be the primary care taker of the children. In such cases women will find a career path that allows for more time at home. This means less women enter the playing field to climb the corporate ladder which essentially means there will be less women at the top. This covers one aspect of reasoning why there are not a lot of women at the top of corporations.
Which is all to say, each problem spoken of by present day feminists is over simplified to the point of idiocy.
First of all, with no offering a definition, so I'll do it, feminism:
"belief in and defense of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes expressed especially through organized activities on behalf of women's rights and interests."
for this reason I consider that anyone who does not seek equality between the sexes is not a feminist, in this way, I can get rid of most of the movements that call themselves feminists today, an example is those that defend abortion, but do not promulgate that a man can abandon his children during the same period as a woman can.
now, con's first argument seems weak to me, he says that a problem like inequality in the executive sphere is not mainly due to sexism and he is right, however, the fact that this factor exists is more than enough to put efforts to eradicate it. on the other hand, although direct discrimination is not the main cause behind this difference in executive positions, I maintain that the main cause is a matter of collective manipulation behind it, you buy toy babies for a girl, not a boy, This is why women are more interested in being mothers than in generating social or economic progress. Is this bad? I maintain that it is, at least in modern society, our population growth is high enough to make it more useful to us As a society, encourage women to generate social or economic progress.
Round 2
Forfeited
Several points to take into account:
1: The definition of feminism contradicts one of the main statements of with (modern feminism goes far beyond calling for equality).
2. I don't contradict anything I said.
3. Con's main argument was very weak.
Thank you
Based on your description, you should probably switch from pro to con. Otherwise, someone might accept as con and argue against feminism.
