Thanks Zlata89 for instigating this debate. I hope we have a lovely discussion.

PRELUDE:

I would like to provide a few definitions for this debate.

Obama: Barack Hussein Obama II is an American politician and attorney who served as the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, Barack Obama was the first African-American president of the United States.

Much: to a great extent; a great deal.

Better: of a more excellent or effective type or quality.

Trump: Donald John Trump is the 45th and current president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality. Trump was born and raised in Queens, a borough of New York City, and received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School.

The Burden of Proof is on PRO, he must prove that Obama was much better than Trump.

First, I would like to rebut my opponent’s claim.

Where are your sources? What are your metrics? What is your definition of competent? We, as in the voters and I, cannot believe your claim if you do not back it up with credible evidence and sourcing. Therefore, you have not fulfilled your BoP yet.

Second, I’ll state only 2 contentions as my opponent has yet to provide any.

Contention A: Military

While Obama may be better than Trump at some things, Trump definitely increased the US’s raw military strength. He authorized 738 billion dollars in funding for the military. [1] This is a historic improvement to the military that has not been seen in Obama’s administration.

This proves that the military budget and strength increased greatly within Trump’s administration.

Contention B:

The American Economy before COVID-19, was the best ever. It created millions of jobs for Americans all across the nation.

Spurred new investments into the American economy, after it was passed businesses invested $482 billion into new American projects.
Repealed Obamacare’s burdensome individual mandate.
Made U.S. companies competitive on the world stage, lowering the corporate tax rate from one of the highest in the industrialized world (35%) to 21%. “ [2]

He also signed many tax relief bills, and simplified tax filing. He made US companies more competitive on the world stage.

Conclusion:

President Trump is not much worse than President Obama due to some factors in his administration doing better than factors in Obama’s administration. Thanks, and I yield round 2 to my opponent.

I wouldn't be so sure. Around 10% of our budget goes towards the mere interest on our debt. We must pay off the debt before its too late. I figured out a great efficient way to get this done.

Because I'm worried that if the US debt grows too big (I don't see it slowing down anytime soon) then the US would have to sell ourselves to a different country, which would probably be China. It's how the Scots lost their sovereignty to England; they got into debt too much.
