AR-15- “The ArmaLite AR-15 is a selective fire, air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed rifle manufactured in the United States between 1959 and 1964. Its military version was adopted by the United States Armed Forces as the M16 rifle.”

Banned- To be officially or legally prohibited. In this debate, I am assuming that the ban is a worldwide ban.

I see that you are fairly new to this site. Welcome, and I shall begin my opening statements.

ARGUMENTS
- AR-15’s ARE DIRECTLY LINKED WITH SOME OF THE DEADLIEST MASS SHOOTINGS
- As most of us probably remember, in 2017, a lone gunman took out over 50 people in one of the most deadliest mass shootings in the history of the United States. This gunman used 14 AR-15s to commit this treacherous act. Once again, the trend continues with the Sandy Hook shooting, which took out 26 people. And it again continues with a San Bernardino attack that took out 14 people. Out of the 48 shootings that occurred from 2004-2016, 13 of those were from semi-automatic weapons/assault rifles (https://www.bustle.com/articles/167502-how-many-mass-shootings-were-ar-15-rifles-involved-in-its-not-the-only-semiautomatic-rifle-on).
- The AR-15 is a military weapon.
- A variant of the AR-15 is called the M16. I’m pretty sure voters and CON know that the M16 is used by the US military in many cases. Most prominently, the Vietnam War. As Paul Ratner put it: “Yes, a gun that became the standard weapon used by American soldiers to fight in Vietnam has been coming to a schoolyard near you. “ Simplifying this entire argument into one sentence: civilians shouldn’t have the power of holding a military gun so commonly.

I think the big point of your argument that I contend personally is the mass shootings part.
I will not deny that the AR-15 has been a popular choice in Mass Shootings, but the thing is Mass Shootings are rare. The most used commonly used gun at the moment, in gun homicide, is a handgun. Handguns kill more than rifles and shotguns combined, yet it seems the attention is more towards the AR-15. Reason for it is due to the fact that a Mass Shooting is made a much bigger, more prominent news story than daily killings with a handgun. If 10 people are shot by an AR-15 in one hour, the next 20-30 to be killed by a handgun in a day are ignored as the AR-15 appears to be scarier and more important to advertise than the handguns(please note these numbers are just examples/hypothetical).
It seems like the attention is misdirected as AR-15's are easier to showcase as terrible, scary, and dangerous than a handgun.
Interesting to see you admit that you don't believe in the case you're making. I do think it shows somewhat, as those opening arguments are quite inaccurate. It would've been interesting, though, to see you recover if the Don had stuck around (assuming he was informed enough to respond properly).

I said pro supports a ban on AR-15s and I am the con. As far as the resolution I'm sorry, I'm new to this site and online debates in general.
The resolution is "AR-15s should not be banned" and you are CON. Therefore, you are arguing that they SHOULD be banned.
