Description
You know the drill.
Round 1
This song genuinely got me through some tough times, I am serious this song was one of those songs that helped me cope when shit hit the fan in my life and I was suicidal. Full respect with it, blast it on replay it genuinely feels like god is speaking to you if you're in the situation and mindset I was in:
Use the method that you pay for the HD of (YT Music and YT Red both give HD for music videos)
Personally, I found Spotify to be the single best in quality and consistently being available for the best tracks out there, if you don't have any in HD format, stick to the YT vid.
Round 2
I had the privilege of seeing Disturbed last week. They were absolutely amazing and I fell in love with their music. This is their song "In Another Time."
R1 Corrections:
I didn't name the song, which was 'Pain' by Three Days Grace.
The URL for Amazon Music was wrong, it's this: https://www.amazon.com/Collection-Three-Days-Grace/dp/B00QNJUC0K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441728503&sr=8-1&keywords=three+days+grace+collection&IQ=&tag=smarturl-20

I agree with Pro, Disturbed are fantastic at Rock. Here is my favourite of theirs:
Stricken
- Disturbed
Aside from being musically brilliant, it's is a very interesting flip on many poppy love songs, taking an alternate stance on what it's like to fall in love with a woman.
Note for some reason on their HQ version of the song on Spotify, there is some kind of hissing or air-leak sound, this seems to be solved by opening it in your app rather than the link provided itself in your browser and then selecting your app/program to play it instead of the browser. I do not know what causes it and suggest to listen to the song on the YT vid at first. On the other hand, you cannot grasp the true vocal quality of the song or brilliance of the guitar solo(s) without listening to the HQ version, so it's up to you.

Official Vimeo (same video as above): https://vimeo.com/122524822
Spotify - OPEN IN YOUR APP/PROGRAM AND PLAY VIA THAT (select in the options of the device you play on), THE BROWSER VERSION HAS A HISSING/LEAK SOUND: https://open.spotify.com/track/6RJdYpFQwLyNfDc5FbjkgV
Amazon Music: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stricken/dp/B001F0SE20
Round 3
Fleetwood Mac "The Chain"
Personally, I don't see how that's a rock song rather than a Country song but it seems the band Fleetwood Mac is classified as Rock overall, so alright...

Round 4
There is no way "The Chain" should be considered a country song.
Aerosmith - "Dream On"
Sky is a Neighborhood
- Foo Fighters
Same order of URLs and platforms as before.
Round 5
I'll finish up with Disturbed "The Sound of Silence." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4
The Resistance
- Skillet
Absolute fucking masterpiece.

Why did I come here expecting to see a proof of why metamorphic rock is better than igneous rock?
Please vote if Rock is to your taste.
This is bullshit, 7 point votebomb is out of order, pls counter it someone
The time to vote is here. The time to listen to music has arrived.
please describe why you loved/hated what you did if you can.
Pls vote if you have time.
Thabks for the vote, I agree ot is on the edge of Rock genre. I dont get the disproportionate 7-poijt vote from the first voter though
Dibs on the next rock battle
Would be interested in your vote here if Rock pleases you at all.
Thabks for the feedback, I agree with most of it. Rock artists do indeed enunciate words strangely.
I enjoyed this battle and hope you did too.
I could have done it that way, though it probably would have favored Virt more if I did. Round-by-round is just simpler for my purposes.
Thanks for proportionally voting, although I don't understand this round-by-round analysis of what is really a 5 v 5 debate, where quality should be the scaling.
Wtf at my typos... Anyway, congrats on the win Virtuoso. I don't agree with it, nor do I regret in engaging in this. I have learned more about who votes on these and who has what taste. The 'ecosystem' of voters on music has definitely changed, had we had this debate months ago with the same songs, I predict I'd win.
Thanks for the vote
Well I know that, but I know nothing about rock, which is why I allowed it since you were ok with it
"Disregarding something as rock is up to tje voter, not song poster. Ita obcious you like softer music, he abused the edges of the genre to achieve that. I was apoealing to truer rock fans or people seeking rock in its raw intense form."
I disagree here. Soft rock is fair game. I personally love soft rock, acoustic rock, and hard rock.
You guys strike me as types who may like Rock.
Disregarding something as rock is up to tje voter, not song poster. Ita obcious you like softer music, he abused the edges of the genre to achieve that. I was apoealing to truer rock fans or people seeking rock in its raw intense form.
Perhaps you guys would like this, not sure what your taste is in rock, but I am honestly proud of my selection in this. I loved Rock, had a real emo phase (in my DDO days was still somewhat in the phase), Rock understands anger and sadness like no other genre in my opinion.
Though that would make an interesting trap debate
rofl
ohhhhh, I thought you were talking about rocks in the ground.
Feel free to fix that in the next round
I forgot to post the song name for R1, it's Pain by TDG
Amazon URL is wrong too, damn.
Yes, metal would be acceptable, though pop would be left up to the voters to decide.
can it move into metal and pop? I'm not crystal clear on what is NOT rock in and around the genre.
