Dogs do far more good for society. Cats do not participate in thwarting crime like dogs. Many things that improve as a result of cats are also improved by dogs. A study demonstrated that cats helped with depression, but so do dogs. To go further, an op-ed stated 6 reasons why cats were the best pets.

1."They love to play"-Dogs also love to play, dogs are actually more social generally than cats.

2."They're purrs and rubs will make you happy"- Who says a dogs rubs cant make you happy, they both assist with depression.

3."No litter box training required"-Dogs can be trained to go to the bathroom in an appropriate space.

4.-"They can groom themselves(for the most part)"-"For the most part" is very important. Sure dogs take slightly more time to clean but that doesn't override the contribution dogs have made to society.

5-"They can be trained"- As can dogs, dogs can be trained to help blind people, deaf people, and stop criminals. Cats don't guide blind people.

6-"They're okay being alone sometimes"-There are many less social dogs as seen in the source below.

Dogs are better because they hold unique traits and abilities that aren't present in cats. I can't really argue anything seeing how you forfeited the last round. Fun debate anyway.
