..." Donald Trump was indicted Monday on charges of racketeering and a string of election crimes after a sprawling, two-year probe into his efforts to overturn his 2020 defeat to Joe Biden in the US state of Georgia.

....The case -- relying on laws typically used to bring down mobsters -- is the fourth targeting the 77-year-old Republican this year and could lead to a watershed moment, the first televised trial of a former president in US history.

....Prosecutors in Atlanta charged Trump with 13 felony counts -- compounding the legal threats he is facing in multiple jurisdictions as a firestorm of investigations imperils his bid for a second White House term. "...

Every tyrannical regime needs to make an example to keep people from getting the wrong idea. For Hitler, it was the night of long knives. For Stalin, the great purges. For Mao, the "Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution," For South Africa apartheid, the imprisonment of Mandela.
These are the ways in which oppressive regimes historically sought to maintain power through fear, violence, and the suppression of dissenting voices. These tactics aimed to discourage opposition and maintain control by making examples of those who dared to challenge the established order.

For the Biden administration, the imprisonment of Trump.

I cant find it, however, I remmeber a clip of Colbert's where is repeating Trumpets claim --aimed at hillary on stage--- about cyber attacker  could be 400 lb Chinese on his bed somewhere.  So Colbert has this animation of  Trumpet as the 400lb mobstser on a bed.

Here is the original of Trumpet and Hillary that Colbert had such fun with, an so on point as to who the real mobster is.

A racketeering mobster is what Trumpet is about, along with his cronies, and I hope to God, they all go to prison.  As some one else pointed out, since this is state crime, Trumpet the racketeering mobster every get into the presidency again, he cannot pardon the criminals involved, this includes himself.

USA has became a sad joke when Trumpet became president and then 60 million votes the 2nd time around.

Colbert doesn't have a show anymore because he refused to pay his writers. Turns out Colbert doesn't have any original thoughts of his own.

Biden single handedly destroyed the world currency and created a massive expansion of BRICS. All of Asia is laughing all the way to their collective banks.

In the Global Peace Index — the first study of its kind to compare peace on a worldwide level,
the United States was ranked in 96th place out of the 121 countries, just ahead of Iran.

lol what? Trump committed a bunch of crimes to try to steal an election he lost. And you are going to compare him to the victim of a political purge? That is absurd.

If anything, trump is the hitler in this scenario. He was planning to illegally steal power and then use the force of the government to suppress those who tried to stop him. Jeffrey Clark (the justice department official trump tried to make assistent AG), when it was pointed out to him that if they illegally seized power using fake electors there would be riots in every city, he responded "Well, that’s what the Insurrection Act is for.” A trump co-conspirator confirmed they would use the military to crush anyone who tried to stop their power grab. So saying Biden is the tyrant and Trump is the victim is a bad joke.

What's funny is that historically, the Mafia, for whom the RICO laws were created, usually kept their promises when extorting protection money from local capitalists. Today's government feels no need to honor any agreement while doing the same. There's no check whatsoever on that level of corruption; and it's not a problem that can ever be fixed at the ballot box at this point.

1) Violent criminals were not known for keeping their word. Except maybe to other violent criminals. I guess the main difference between trump and the mob is that trump isn't loyal to a single person. He would lie to, cheat and steal from literally anyone to benefit himself.

2) This statement seemingly has nothing to do with what we were talking about.

I'm sure Trump would love to go to jail. His hero, Hitler was imprisoned in Landsberg jail after his abortive bid to seize power in the notorious "beer hall putsch" in Munich.

That GA indictment is a joke. Just more nonsensical spurious so-called legal theories being stretched into Never Never Land.

Things that are now illegal according to the Georgia indictment:
– Asking people for phone numbers
– Reserving rooms in a Capitol building
– Telling people to watch TV
– Getting people to attend legislative hearings. pic.twitter.com/H2oQPXu4OM

More things that are now illegal according to the indictment:
– Holding meetings
– Calling people
– Asking people to call special sessions of legislatures
– Setting up phone calls pic.twitter.com/y2XiVCWzy9

Hey FLRW, this thread seems to be making   twanging sound again.   Perhaps we need to file a technicality report with maintenance crew.

Is Trumpism and its cultist hiccuping attack a response to obivous truths in Georgia, Florida, NY and DC?

.."  DISTINCT TWANG Distinct Twang could be likened to a distinctly narrow funnel; this will make the sound very sharp and piercing. "...

Why should Trump be above the law?
He is getting re-elected because the law is being used as a political weapon. Protecting the government at the expense of the people isn't what a lot of Americans signed up for. Government should serve at the pleasure of the people in a functioning democracy, not the other way around.

And before you say that State law has supreme authority over Trump, even the DA of Georgia is not above the law, and is subject to the full weight and authority of the SCOTUS; especially where acts of free speech are blatantly being subverted. The SCOTUS has thousands of case precedents where they definitively ruled that State DAs violated the Constitution, and therefore violated the law. So Trump has every right to ask the question, "why should the DA of Georgia be above the law?"

Nobody cares about black crime in either party. Republicans are more than happy to let democrat thugs enable black gangs to destroy their own communities. Most Republicans just move away and shrug saying "well you voted for that, I feel no pity"

This is exactly why we have a criminal justice system, which right wingers used to pretend to care about.

This is the typical MAGA up is down left is right thinking we have seen, where when someone commits the crime it’s not the criminal that was in the wrong but the people who prosecuted them.

Trump has now been indicted by 4 separate grand juries in 4 separate jurisdictions. His defense is that each of them is out to get him and the MAGA cult just follows him down the path of conspiracy absurdity. Notice the remarkable absence of defenses from him or his sycophants arguing he is innocent.

When republicans voted to acquit Donald Trump for his plot to steal the election culminating with him inciting a mob to attack the US Capitol they said the remedy for this was not through the political process but to hold him accountable through the law. Now that he’s being held accountable through the law they are saying it should be decided through the political process, the very same one he tried to steal.

To say the intellectual dishonesty on the right knows no bounds is giving them way too much credit because it assumes honesty and a commitment to logical consistency is still a supposed a virtue. It’s not, the dishonesty is the point. It’s like when Vladimir Putin has one of his antagonists killed and the official cause of death is that they fell out of a window. It’s no longer about pretending your guy is virtuous, it’s about power being impressed upon the other side by being so insultingly dishonest that the other side is forced to reckon with the fact that your side isn’t constrained by the things we all used to be.

If I go to a store and buy a couple of ski masks I did nothing remotely illegal.

If those ski masks were purchased so that they could be used in a bank robbery then I’ve taken part in the commission of a crime and can be prosecuted for it.

Pretty basic stuff.

Queue the “YOU’RE AN INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST DENIALIST!” rant.

Until the actual crime has been committed with evidence linking you to those ski masks is obtained, IF the exact ski masks purchased were even used, your “what IF” is a huge nothing-burger, bunkis.

The observation of intellectual cowardice denialism comes later, if and when you actually perform it. Which is predictable, so yeah, given your M.O., it will happen sooner than later.

Donald Trump for his plot to steal the election culminating with him inciting a mob to attack the US Capitol t
He clearly was not plotting to steal anything when he genuinely felt/thought that the left was trying to steal the election with magical numbers appearing overnight for Biden.

He incited nothing of the kind, which is clear as Crystal given the language he used and the FACT that no one is charging him with incitement of a riot. No incitement, no riot.

It’s already been firmly established that the FBI undercover agents and CIs within the crowd present that day were the ones who incited the riot. Not to mention Capitol police opening the doors and ushering in the crowd.

AND it’s painfully obvious that the lefty George Soros funded DAs and Special Prosecutor keeps charging DJT with BS stretched thin legal theories in order to divert/deflect all attention away from the Biden Crime Family with all their bribery, extortion, and treasonous activities. Smoke and mirrors.

Right, as soon as more than two black people congregate, they become a gang.

Conservatives definitely care about black crime. It could be DWB (driving while black) or JWB (jogging while black)or WWB (walking while black) Those crimes merit the death penalty as we have seen in the past as black motorists and black pedestrians have been killed by white cops and white vigilantes.
