“Soon after the Saudi company, Fondomonte Arizona, arrived in the Butler Valley in 2015, state planners suggested asking the company to install meters and report its water use. But the proposal “hit a stone wall,” John Schneeman, one of the planners, told The Post. It was spurned, he said, by officials in the administration of then-Gov. Doug Ducey (R) who were “cautious of tangling with a powerful company.”

“A Post investigation — based on government documents and interviews with public officials, ranchers in the valley, farmworkers, and townspeople who live near the alfalfa fields — found that Arizona’s lax regulatory environment and sophisticated lobbying by the Saudi-owned company allowed a scarce American resource to flow unchecked to a foreign corporation”

Republicans are too dumb to protect their water resources

It is American water. It belongs to the American people.

What is up with the mindless WAPO spam in this forum? Wapo has some pretty blatant  juvenile takes on everything happening in the country to cater to its audience for profit. I find it hard to believe serious people read Wapo for a "nuanced" take on American events. Its like reading Republicanmanbad every day with a different headline. We get it already, no need for the spam.

Ya, WAPO is “mindless spam” but Jimmy Dore, now that’s the place for intellectuals.

serious people read Wapo for a "nuanced" take on American events.
Serious people watch Jimmy Dore to stay informed!

So "giving to saudi arabia" is a bit of a misleading statement isn't it?

It would be more true to say that letting a Saudi eat Texas beans is "giving away american food", he might actually take some of that back to Arabia in his gut.

No, it’s not a misleading statement, the Saudi owned company is paying a below market rate for the use of the land and the water that comes with it.

No, it would not,  those beans are being consumed in Texas by a guy from Saudi Arabia.

This article is exposing the use of precious water resources to grow alfalfa that will be harvested and shipped to Saudi Arabia to feed cattle over there.

Oh give me a break about "precious American water"

California regularly gives the ultra elite special water rights and land privileges while also refusing to build reservoirs to keep the supply of water artificially scarce and keep the elite rich happy.

40 years of voting straight Democrat, and this is what the people get. More of the same.
