Why would anyone who is not wealthy vote for Republicans?

In 2017 they dramatically cut taxes, including zero inheritance taxes on estates valued up to 13 million, while doing nothing to lower the cost of college for poor and middle class Americans.

In the good ole days, the 1950s and 60s, college tuition was free and the wealthy paid a top tax rate of 90% under Eisenhower and 70% under Kennedy.

Was it socialism to have free college back then? Why is it socialism now?

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) welcomed the court’s decision on Friday. “The American people know that the Biden Administration’s student loan socialism plan would be a raw deal for hardworking taxpayers,” he said. “Now that the Supreme Court has rejected the Administration’s position in Biden v. Nebraska, they can know that it’s illegal.”

Well, Trump did increase the National Debt by 39 percent so he could give himself a tax break.

Democrats wanted 75%, Trump really failed both parties.
Also, Democrats kept most of the Trump tax cuts, so Biden needs to be executed as a traitor as well.

If I were you, I would blame Melania for Biden's failure to repeal the Trump tax cut on the rich.

I imagine all the losers who don’t have children don’t care how much students pay for tuition now.

You got your freebie. Now it’s tough luck for the next generation.

Democrats wanted 75%, Trump really failed both parties.
The stimulus spending was necessitated by Trump’s botched federal response to Covid.
The budget was already in ruins after the 2017 tax cut for the wealthy that dramatically increased the deficit.
The stimulus spending to prop up poor red states obviously worked. Even a loser like yourself got through it.

So you admit Biden continues to ruin the economy by keeping the Trump tax cuts for the rich. Smart man. Finally you see Biden for the traitor he is.

I'm sick of seeing this.  It's not funny and it has definitely dragged on long enough to qualify as targeted harassment.  You can either take a hint and knock it off or I can start being an officious dick about it.  Your choice.

dummy is generic.  The way you've created an insulting nickname  especially  for Roosevelt, gotten others to target him with you, and promoted your abuse on hot tags is quite a different thing, as everybody can understand.  You are in clear violation of Coc:

  • Targeted harassment of any member prohibited, as is inciting others to do so at your behest. This includes wishing or hoping that someone and/or their loved ones experiences physical harm.

  • Harassment
NOTE: Moderation reserves the right to impose restraining orders as necessary. Should an RO be imposed to prevent harassment, violation of that RO will be handled as detailed in the RO section below. In other words, except as otherwise noted, violation of RO’s will be treated separately from an instance of targeted harassment between non-RO’d users as detailed in this section.
    1. 1.
If a user incessantly harasses another user by way of creating call-out threads, derailing unrelated topics with impertinent grudges, failing to comply with the reasonable requests of the other user, inciting others to harass, or engaging in any other form of targeted harassment, moderation shall:
    a) FIRST, request the user cease & desist such behavior.
    b) IF adequate time passes and A is ignored by the user, OR IF the user complied initially after A but again engages in targeted harassment unapologetically, moderation shall issue a 30 day ban and then repeat A.
    c) ALL additional infractions after C shall be met with bans according the formula
    y=4(x2)y=4(x^2)y=4(x2)
where "y" equals ban time in months and "x" equals the number of infractions after C.
  • Creating threads to call-out specific users qualifies as targeted harassment, as does obsessive attempts to derail unrelated topics with impertinent grudges. However, criticizing statements within an ongoing discussion, is fair game.

  • So- I am requesting that you cease & desist that specific behavior.  Next time I see you call Roosevelt fanchick or use that tag- you will get a restraining order.

Normally, this would be done on DM but since you have me blocked I'm afraid it's in public.  Sorry about that.

Biden doesn’t keep anything, the Congress needs to change the tax laws and the Democrats have Manchin and Sineme who refuse to raise taxes on the rich.

You are making the totally wrong call here. You are defending one user who happend to post 'fanchick' against someone who has bullied many users mercilessly for months and ruined the quality of an entire subforum.

You can either moderate the actual toxic instigators or end up king of a bunch of cowards on one end and bullies on the other with no high quality users who stand up to the bullies left.

    Lmao.

You’re deliberately painting this in a different light to make it disproportionately one-sided. You’re playing favoritism.

How many callout threads has IWRA created, openly addressing greyparrot as ‘gayparrot?’:

IWRA’s second nickname of choice for greyparrot is SubTeach, which he frequently uses to bring up GP’s IRL career.:

These are not just random occurrences either. This is a clear pattern of IWRA following greyparrot into his own threads to harass him. IWRA is not a victim either.

The feuding is definitely mutual. Precisely, how is “Fanchick” more insulting than any of the nicknames IWRA has called greyparrot or other people?

This isn’t to get IWRA in trouble either because he’s as much of a perpetrator as greyparrot. This is to pushback on the slander greyparrot is unfairly receiving.

I'll make a general post about it later today, but since a lot of the activity over it is happening here, I'll give you the short version.

There are a number of people whose personal attacks against others have been a problem for a while now, IWRA included. And part of the reason we haven't acted against it is that there's been a lot of reciprocal behavior. We've let it drag on too long, so some people have felt the need to defend themselves or lash out in response.

So, this will serve as a general first warning. If you have a history of engaging in this type of behavior, whether that involves insulting someone's intelligence, posting call-out threads, nicknaming them in ways clearly intended to harass, and you keep it up, you will receive a personal second warning. If we see it again, we'll start handing out bans and ROs as needed.

Dummy, idiot, childless, disabled, so on and so forth.....the list is long and obnoxious with all the insults that IWRA has put forth and constantly uses that would = the same you are applying to GP.

Don't be a hypocrite. If you're going to chastise one you must apply the same to the other.

And "fanchick" is hardly offensive compared to some of the shit IWRA says towards GP (and myself), among others.

Do you really want me to go through a number of threads to recount all the derogatory ad hominems IWRA has constantly and consistently repeatedly used towards users?

Again, don't be a hypocrite in such clearly stated biased actions you just announced herein against GP, but nothing against IRWA.

EDIT: Sir.Lancelot and RationalMadman make excellent points about IRWA just as I have voiced here too.

THAT'S RIGHT!!! You all let it happen and continue to happen, so it's your fault not those defending themselves.

The current predicament you've all put DART in by allowing this behavior is all on you all. You should have reigned it in long ago so it wouldn't be so muddied now with biased actions being announced by orogami against GreyParrot without a word otherwise against IWRA (pure hypocrisy).

IF you want this behavior to stop, then address it publicly as a change that will begin say in one or two days, after said announced time if anyone continued in repeated harassment of unwarranted ad hominem attacks (name calling, etc. made personal - at the person), then you may proceed with the warnings, ROs, etc. after X # of violations.

But just coming out in a public thread doling out criticism and threatened punishment for one but not another who has clearly been the root cause of the problem is not the way to go about fixing the behavioral problems with name calling going on at DART.

    Do better.

There are a few extremely cases of dumb 18 year olds being misled by society into making some horrible decisions that severely damage their lives where I have sympathy. There should be a way to get out of student loan debt as long as it’s costly like there is for other debt. But most students don’t have that much debt. I think the average is like 30k at graduation, while college grads make $1 million + more than non college grads over their lifetimes. A blanket forgiveness is people who are wealthier than average forcing other people to pay off the debt they agreed to and spent. It’s just grotesque and I’m glad it got blocked

You are such a hypocrite. You make personal attacks all the time and then claim they are not personal attacks. And that is after you have said something stupid.

Here is your most recent post: Fuck, I thought this place was bad with intellectual cowards like badger, rational_madman, iwantrooseveltagain, americandebater24, orogami, whiteflame, et al was bad....shit, the moment you say one word someone doesn't like, and they report you, BOOM! Banned for 3 days.
So you can call someone a coward, but dummy is over the line? And you are surprised I say what I say?

So, since some moderator felt it necessary to be a fucking hypocrite in defense of another fucking hypocrite here at DART, I have to waste my time in order to establish this thread - yet again - because it is absolutely necessary as it is part and parcel to present day political and social discussions in this country.

So fucking hypocrite is ok, but dummy is over the line?
And to the one who wasted my initial time for a bullshit reason (whether I mention a name in the OP or the very second comment doesn't make a difference, same for anyone else who does the same, in which they did, and you didn't delete their thread, hypocrite!!!!!!!), in light of the fact that the one they favor did the exact same fucking thing but didn't delete the entirety of their thread - fuck you! No names. Because if I put a name in - the hypocrite will remove this thread once again. But they know who they are!!
So...who is more racist in America? Blacks or Whites. Well, as of late, the obvious answer is blacks AND EVEN BLACKS agree!!!!!

As am I, but it's really only a drop in the bucket compared to how much is being stolen and wasted by inflation, medicare, and military spending.

It continues to amaze me how many people don't seem to realize that nothing is free and cancelling a debt means someone gets screwed.

If the student loan holders were a bunch of giant corporations in bed with the deep state I wouldn't have the slightest problem screwing them. Incredibly though this so called "cancellation" (by all reports I've seen) would be accomplished by using stolen funds (taxes) to pay the creditors.

So the general public is screwed because the government
    A) Created a situation that caused tuition to skyrocket and then guaranteed a bunch of loans
    B) Steals money to pay for the loans they guaranteed and then "cancelled".

The only difference between this and nationalizing higher education is that the government doesn't get to set curriculum if it happens to be taken over by an orange man (convenient).

Tuition went up beginning in the 1980s when the federal government stopped sending money to the states to subsidize tuition. Because we needed to cut taxes for wealthy people thank you Ronald Reagan.
