What does it look like? Can anyone explain how this is an actual concern? As in, provide example circumstances under which a people would rise up guns a' blazing?
First World Tyranny

The tyranny only exists in poor countries that have oil.

@badger
Isn't it obvious? Requiring people to wear masks in the name of public health is tyranny. That is what I heard from some people in my state.
-->
@b9_ntt
How far do you take it? Can you create any law and say it is in the name of "public health" and it be considered fair?
Or is it not the reasoning for laws which will always be altruistic but instead the laws themselves being criticized?
The reasons that we have laws preserving freedom is specifically to deal with tough situations. We don't need guarantees of freedom when everything is going well as there are no excuses to limit freedoms or remove them in those situations. We have guarantees of freedom specifically for tough situations where it is tempting to remove them for the public good
At least in America, we knowingly and happily would prioritize freedom over public safety, or should anyway. We value freedom so much that we are willing to die for it.
If aliens invaded tomorrow and we were given a choice between a prosperous fascist society with the aliens in charge, it is in our blood to say no and fight until every last man woman and child is dead defending the country.
I don't know where you are from but I am an American and I would gladly sacrifice the very existence of our species if it meant we could have absolute freedom of speech for just one more day or freedom to assemble or freedom to watch cuckold porn.

No, of course not. In my opinion requiring masks when Covid 19 was raging was reasonable to prevent contagion. It certainly did not rise to the level of tyranny. To me tyranny means arbitrary rules that serve no social purpose. A million US residents died of Covid 19. Toward the end of the epidemic, the unvaccinated made up a large majority of deaths. That should have killed the vaccination debate, but it didn't. We didn't have this problem when vaccinating against tuberculosis, nor again when vaccinating against polio. Something has changed and it's not for the better.

@b9_ntt
You don't think that maybe some politicians took advantage of the situation for purposes not so altruistic? Like some temporary power grabs?
-->
@PREZ-HILTON
If you mean the pro-mask politicians, I think not. I'm more inclined to believe that some anti-mask politicians were grabbing for power.
-->
@b9_ntt
What do you think of the quote about keeping up curfews in place to harm Trump's reelection chances. By one democratic politician?
Also how would a republican fighting against the government having more power through mandates be using the pandemic as an excuse for the government to make power grabs?

I didn't hear about that. If it's true, I would be against it, Democrat or not.

They wouldn't be. I was referring to politicians trying to appeal to anti-maskers to further their own lust for power. As we saw in the Fox News saga, some people were were feeding right-wingers things they themselves didn't believe, just to increase their own popularity. Left-wingers are not above doing that themselves. I just think that it happens a lot more on the right.

Okay, I get what you are saying now. I am concerned with how much power the government has while you are concerned about how much power certain individuals have.

@PREZ-HILTON
That's a good way to put it. I trust the gov't. most of the time, but not certain politicians. I think I have a fairly open mind, but I have to say that I am biased against Trump. On the other hand, I trust Biden. I don't agree with everything Biden does. I do agree with one or two things Trump did, like moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. So I try to think for myself most of the time.

i don't even criticize Biden's decision making. I actually feel sorry for him. I feel like he is senile and possibly has Alzheimer's and the people around him are one step removed at doing weekend at Bernie's shit to obtain power for themselves. I wouldn't tarnish him by actually crediting him with any of the decisions being made. Likely it is rule by committee and insiders vote on what policy Biden will enact.
-->
@PREZ-HILTON
I disagree about Biden. I think he is normal for his age and making decisions on his own. If you listen to him speak, he doesn't sound weird (at least, to me).

@b9_ntt
Lol dude is shaking hands with people not there, trailing off into nonsense, mixing up dates etc. When you see him lucid it looks like he has been fed Adderall and is wearing an earpiece.
You see the media asking him prescripted questions in very controlled environments and when the environment is less controlled he doesn't take questions at the end of his speeches but walks off with the press screaming questions.
If he was of sound mind than he would be taking questions after speeches not need the highly controlled media environment with pre scripted questions etc.
That poor man is not lucid and what's going on is elder abuse. My grandma had dementia and she showed a lot of similar traits as him. If anyone did to my grandma what the people closse to him are doing to him, they would need the secret service as protection not my grandma.

@PREZ-HILTON
I guess I will have to watch him more closely now to see whether I agree with you. I'll let you know.
-->
@b9_ntt
I can send you 100 clips but here is the latest one showing how much direction he needs. Obama, Bush, Clinton none of them needed this type of direction. Maybe Reagan because near the end of his 2nd term they were hiding dementia like they do with Biden now, but after Reagan, nobody. https://youtu.be/82LI1pTtOsc
I am literally on the verge of tears right now thinking about the elder abuse this gentleman is receiving.
-->
@PREZ-HILTON
I just watched it, and sad to say, it looks like you are right. Unless that was a deep fake, he is losing it. I am not happy about this.

Were you aware of Biden's dementia?

Nonsense
It sure does seem that no one can conceive of any sort of plausible first world tyranny.
Not that Wylted's championing of cuckold porn isn't admirable. The black man in America has come far.

Yeah, if we could just think of one, we would be in a better position.

Nonsense
Interesting. I had a working theory that Americans voted for Biden because they hated one man more than they loved their country, but I have been proven wrong time and again.
The simple fact is most people that voted Biden in really had no clue. The corporate oligarchy media censorship is real.

no, most people voted for biden because he was the lessor of 2 evils. Biden promised to do a little bit of good, but mostly to keep the status quo. Trump was kind of all over the place, but mostly he just followed standard, highly destructive republican policies but with the added benefit of being a complete asshole and the constant threat of him triggering a war because someone was mean to him on twitter.

@Sidewalker
Thus thread is about Biden's dementia, not sure why you linked to a bunch of things about Trump. Oh my God, you think dementia is an insult. You are literally using it as an insult against Trump.
Dude this isn't about insults. An elderly man with dementia is being abused, have some fucking empathy, you psychopath.

Not currently but would Nazi Germany count? They were a first world tyranny at some point.

Barely. Hitler's lever to tyranny was the destitution of his people after WW1. I basically believe that the lever of tyranny is scarcity and there's no statesman that can outbid this global infrastructure.

I'm responding to your lame ass video, the way some dumbass talked to Biden doesn't mean he has dementia, and being confused about where to go shows nothing. Anybody can find clips like yours, and I showed a bunch of clips where Trump is more confused and totally insane.
Dude this isn't about insults. An elderly man with dementia is being abused, have some fucking empathy, you psychopath.
"This isn't about insults...you psychopath" LOL.
With Trump, an insane psychopath was abusing the country, have some fucking intelligence, you moron.
Don't you guys ever get tired of losing? With you guys losing isn't an outcome, it's a lifestyle choice.
