Or does corporal punishment just work on humans???
If corporal punishment of children is good, do you also approve of beating dogs?

beating and spanking, slapping or shooting cold water at someone are not identical just so you are aware.

@RationalMadman
Well, I was gonna say something like "Do you support spanking dogs?", but it sounded too weird at the time.

Instead of spanking, things like water treatment, raising one's voice (which hurt their ears much more than for humans) and such are forms of corporal punishment for dogs and they do react well but they also need treats and rewards for good behaviour.
Parenting lacking in positive feedback for good behaviour is toxic. Parenting lacking in any discipline is also toxic in a different way.

I give my dog a pop in the jaw when he misbehaves.
Nothing too hard, just a little suprise pop with a firm "No" to get the point across.

@YouFound_Lxam
Wtf do you mean? Sounds like abuse.
-->
@RationalMadman
Not like a full-on smack in the face, but a little pop on the jaw/mussel of the dog.
He doesn't whine or bark when I do it, more or less just a surprised look, then carry's on with his day.
Not abuse, just firm discipline.

1.Dogs behave as Dogs,
2. And humans behave as humans.
Humans who supposedly have superior intellect, constantly overlook the above points 1 and 2. and resort to communicating violently.
Same sort of human will also communicate violently with children, and also with other situations that exceed their intellectual parameters.
I have a beloved dog, and we have mutual respect for our differences, so violent communication has never been a part of our relationship.
"If corporal punishment of children is good, do you also approve of beating dogs?"
False equivalency fallacy.

So yes?

@TWS1405_2
Or no?

@Best.Korea
huh?
What's the question
-->
@TWS1405_2
Do you approve of beating dogs? Do you approve of using corporal punishment on dogs?
Just my curiosity here.
-->
@Best.Korea
Under certain circumstances, yes.

Anything can be falsely equivalent or fallacious if one so decides.
False equivalency fallacy fallacy.
Or
False equivalency fallacy fallacy fallacy.
Ad infinitum.

I support the corporal punishment of children and not dogs and here's why:
1) Children can be told why they fucked up. They will understand you. They will take the beating and learn from it. The dog will not. The dog can't speak or understand nearly as much vocabulary as a human. The dog (if beaten) won't know why, won't be able to change course, and would be traumatized from it.
It's kinda like, "If you support giving stressful HW to kids, would you give it to dogs?" Kids can learn much more effectively than dogs.
If requiring that children attend school is good, should we also require that dogs complete a K12 education?

This is correct.

@YouFound_Lxam
If it was up to me you would be charged with animal abuse.
-->
@RationalMadman
Little smack on the mussel is definitely animal abuse...................
Even though my dog is not scared of me at all and welcomes me home with love every day.
It's called harsh discipline.
