Ok, lets hear everyone's versions of how did it start, what was the build up to the start and what you think you know that no one else knows about what's going on there now.

My sources are the same as yours, I am curious to see how many different versions of Ukraine we can get. I believe the Ukraine is a giant money laundering child sex/human  trafficking scum hole  with Zelenski at the top. Biden is just laundering billions of dollars under the disguise of virtuous motives. Russia is actually the good guys in this shit show.

Any reply that does not include the year 2014 is automatically fake news.

I believe Putin wants the Ukranian people tyrannised against their will under Russia's regime and flag, which they were before and it actually did involve Nazis allying them against USSR for them to eventually gain their later independence as it was a snowball effect.

Every action Putin has taken, including in 2014, supports this theory.

China wants Russia to do this as a lab rat test run, however since they saw the level of sanctions the West and other countries were willing to put on Russia, as well as the extent of assistance that is technically non-militant in nature, they are hesitating to invade Taiwan and other nations. In other words, the test was a failure but it succeeded in that it gave a clear result.

Northern America
USA, Canada, and Greenland
52.36% of the world sex trafficking victims are happening in Northern America, and 84% of the sexual exploitation is females, 15% males, and 1% transgender.

Eastern Europe
Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
Eastern Europe stands for 14.07% of the victims, and the gender distribution is a bit more aligned like we saw in Northern Europe. 53% of the victims are females, 47% in males, and 0% as transgender.

Regional disagreement and conflict starts way before 2014.

Though everything post Putin's special military operation, is the work of Putin and his acolytes.

RationalMadman's answer in post #3, is much my view,

Though since I've not researched deeply, it's a loosely held view I take,
I don't view my below as well read or educated, but it is my view.

. . .

How did it start?
Well, Russia has been expansion focused for a while (I think)

(For the most part)
The Monarchs expanded
The Communists expanded,
The Oligarchs expanded.
(I think)

I vaguely remember something in the timeline about the UN expanding eastward,
Maybe the current leaders saw it as a threat or opportunity.

Lot of mixing of people,
A common excuse by nations to declare war,
By mixing of people, I mean citizens or race being in another country,
Let's say a significant number of Mexicans moved into the USA,
They and or their descendants, could be used as an excuse for Mexico to attack the USA,

If they could claim their 'people are being mistreated, or 'deserve to be under Mexico's government, and since they're already on the land, it makes no sense to force them to move, Mexico will kindly take charge of the land.

I 'Don't mean this example as an attack against immigration or Mexico,
I could have used other nations as examples, USA expansion into Mexico for example,
Or used X and Y instead of real countries,
But I am lazy and don't feel like rewriting.

. . .

But back to Ukraine,

Even before Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022,
There was conflict, excuse/reason.

There was that annexation of Crimea,

I recall something about Georgia,

. . .

My point in all this, is that Russia has been expansive for a while,
Soon as The USSR fell,
Power vacuum and people resituating themselves, reclaiming and acquiring power,

When USSR around,
They were acquiring power,

When Monarchs were around, power,

When chieftains were around, I'm sure power.

Yes it has and this rivalry is much deeper than anything like Mexico vs US. Imagine it more like this:

The one-star state of Texas actually broke off and some confederates even joined, then over time the US began bullying them back against their will. It did happen, it gets glorified as a slave-freeing thing and perhaps it was but this is basically that except the irony is Russia is worse...

As in, Russia is the human trafficking capital of the world almost, don't be fooled.

I'd agree that America and Mexico rivalry is not readily apparent to me,
As anything huge these days,
Though it's possible that other's have different views.

And that one 'does hear of a significant amount of human trafficking in Russia these days.

What else? That Ukraine is a nazi regime.

Russian propaganda is quite intimidating. I suggest to check the topic I opened about ideological subversion.

I agree, Biden doesn't want to lose the money laundering and  child/human sex trafficking that goes on there. Russia wants to cut off US corruption and influence there and I cant blame Putin one bit for wanting to. Lets not forget all the US funded Biolabs there.

The last war USA fought where the people didn't know how it started or why it was going on so long or how it could possibly end was Vietnam.

We all have access to the internet, that’s true.

But that’s a lot different than saying  “My sources are the same as yours”

People choose what to read and believe. Some people exercise good critical thinking skills and others do not.

And you believe you have good critical thinking skills? Ya, so does everyone else. Yet so many different interpretations of the same subject. All our sources are the same and they all come from the same place.

Same place? If I get my info from the WSJ on line and you get your info from Dan Bongino on line we are NOT getting information from the same place

so does everyone else.
No, everyone does not possess good critical thinking skills.
