Science - How To Make Fertilizer For Plants - Very Easy

Before we get to our basic farming thread, I would like to make a thread about making fertilizer.

Many of you will say: "But we are making fertilizer when we poop and pee".

Sure you do, but I would rather not put that directly on plants like spinach.

So, how to make fertilizer that is not piss or poop?

It seems so easy:

1) You mow down grass,

2) place grass clippings in a bucket

3) Add water

After about a week, the grass will rot in water and it will turn in liquid fertilizer.

To use this liquid fertilizer, simply pour some into your watering can and then add water.

The ratio of water and liquid fertilizer is 100:1 if you are watering every day.

So add 100 ml of this fertilizer to 10 liter of water.

If you are watering every two days, then its 50:1 ratio of water and fertilizer, or 200ml of fertilizer to ten liter of water.

Ideally you would being doing full compost with both nitrogenous (like grass clippings) and carbon rich components. This is perfectly doable for most people who make enough money to have a lawn, as you presupposed with this thread.

Comfrey is better than grass clippings for making fertilizer.

Use grass clippings as a mulch.

You are right. Some plants like comfrey and stinging nettles make great fertilizer.

In my area, I cannot use grass for mulch except around trees and some vegetables.

If I place mulch around certain sensitive vegetables, it attracts so many slugs and they eat almost everything.

Kept grass in water.. I hope my banana tree will have nice food after 1 week.
