I ran across this video and found it quite intriguing given how society operates in todays times. I think its a smart idea for strait men today. I see no down sides.

I think this is a logistic nightmare for strait people, because you would have to tow a boat to the middle of the strait every time two men want to marry. At least this is what it sounds like if you would like to make the ceremonial action any differentiated from normal marriage.

The thing is, there is no difference between a gay marriage of the same sex and a strait marriage of the same sex in the eyes of the law. The financial benefits of two strait men being able to marry are astronomical. Prenups would be easy and a given. What's mine is mine and yours is yours going in and 50% down the middle on everything else. You could even state in the prenup that all independent purchases stay with the purchaser. Only joint property will be split. No worries about losing everything you worked for, no alimony, no child support. A simple business contract between two men. Get divorced anytime you want and no hard feelings. I really really don't see any down sides.  The risk is way less than marrying a woman. Men don't have to buy the cow anymore to get the milk, the cows just give it away, why marry it and take all that financial risk when you can get it for nothing with no commitments or strings attached. Men could live in separate houses and hardly ever see each other and reap all the financial benefits of marriage. I think its a genius financial  idea.

Your efforts, while wasted here, are nevertheless much appreciated.  I read the title and clicked on it with the same line in mind.

What financial benefits of marriage? The tax benefits are fairly minimal, and everything else described in the video is identical to having a roommate.

The health insurance benefits alone are worth it. Gifting money tax free, Social security survivor benefits, Law suit protections of assets, the list goes on and on. People only tend to look at the most rudimentary aspects of tax benefits as they have no wealth to speak of to protect or report. I am looking at this from a wealth protection aspect.

Now there's a thought.

I'll see what Mrs Zed thinks.

"Polygamy" That's just a matter of not if, but when.

I think so as well,
No matter the people who claim slippery slope a fallacy.

Polygamy is. Multiple sex partners.

And marriage is a load of tosh really, though we have made a sociological mountain out of procreation for quite a while.

And slippery slopes are more or less slippery relative to both, slopiness and slipperiness.

And Mrs Zed wasn't keen to move to Florida. Too many alligators.

But if Mrs Sadolite would like to move to Wales. Mostly sheep here.

Polygamous relationship,
Polygamous marriage,
Different, but similar.

Sure, I can understand marriage in general, or specific traditional marriages of this or that, not being for everyone.
But societies have often had ideas of what marriage ought be,
And I'm not arguing for any specific form there, myself.

For Americans though, with a history tendency of heterosexual monogamous,
. . .
I don't 'much care myself,
But breaking a definition, breaks a definition,
It's why I'm leery of 'many initial laws,
Whether in guns, surveillance, property rights,
People like to get their entire body in the door at times, once they get a foot.

It looks nice and green, when I Google Wales,
Lot of land sloping up and down, hills, gray rocks by the water, some castles,
Also sheep.

Castles seem fun.

I prefer the  South Western US. I miss the desert and the mountains. Don't think Wales would be my cup of tea. Florida isn't my cup of tea anymore. I am so over the whole ocean/ Beach BS. I am to old to move and start a new life. I am stuck here. Florida is just one giant wetland nature preserve bird sanctuary. There is no land but for a few thousand square acres scattered about the state for off road use. Most boring state in the union if you ask me. Don't ever move here if you don't like sand, water and flat land hundreds of miles in every direction.

Castles seem fun.

Once you've seen one castle you've seen them all.

I'm not particularly sentimental about history and piles of stone.

But I wouldn't want to spoil it for those that are.

I do get a certain something from remoteness and solitude.

Though I am fully aware that this all boils down to body chemistry.
