Matthew 10:2

2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
Was it a matter of days, weeks or a year?
The only thing we can be certain of is that at least 5 were gathered within 2 days.

Let me guess. When someone replies you to wondering why you care about how long it took, you're going to reply with the allegation that there is a contradiction between the timelines found in Mark and in the other gospels. Was I right, or was I barking up the wrong tree?

Yes.

And I said 5 above when now I see that it could have been 6 or 7 in two days. There is no information on the remaining 5 or 6.

Well, in that case, I'll bite. Why does this matter?

Why does this matter?

Because I don't know. And Jesus, if the bible is to be believed seemed to be in rather a hurry to get his mission done.

So you don't know either, then?

No, I don't. I don't see why it matters, either.

I can picture /  I  suspect
maybe 5 or so disciples would  scout out ahead of jesus to the next village area  were they are to perform at.
To prepare the tricks that are performed by jesus.
For example,   One has to get into character and act like a cripple for jesus to heal
Then you got the deciple  whom acts blind.
And there's the  Amputee deciple.

One guy has to get the buckets  ready and situated  near the buckets full of fish that need to be hidden.

These guys need to have to really sell it. ( they need a day to get into character.  )  at least.

Its like a circus
Soooo.
A day max they meet then a day later.
They are within 24hrs of each other.

They eat supper together quite regularly.

See Back in thoes days.
Everyone thought how awsome it would be to be a King.
Butttt , If you haven't got the blood line to be a king. Do the next best thing.   A man of god.

This nets them a few bucks and a bunch of privileges. Like  ( they don't need to "farm " for themselves. )

Its a bit like (  A wingman  )

Whats Another word we could use insted of deciples for these bunch of blokes ?

Like , womanizers maybe.
 Schemers.

A deciple is a person that has no qualms operating a Ponzie scheme.

Stephen.

YOUR QUOTE OF A QUESTION ABOUT JESUS' DISCIPLES: "How long Did it Take Jesus to Gather His 12 Disciples?"

I don't think it matters because of the following biblical axioms, that Miss Dr. Tradesecret ran away from to discuss!

JESUS STATED:  “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.” (John 6:55-59)

We can only assume that Jesus' disciples didn't want to LITERALLY eat Jesus' flesh and drink His blood as the passage above so states, therefore this passage comes into view; "Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?" (John 6:60)

Its finished, the disciples obviously didn't want to eat Jesus' flesh or drink His blood because of this revealing passage; "From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him." (John 6:66)

Poor Jesus. :(

The reason they deserted him was simply because  he wasn't saying what they wanted to hear. As I mentioned in another thread; "turn the other cheek" and "love your enemies" and worst of all, "render unto Caesar" wasn't the kind of language that the cut-throat Sicarii assassin Zealots of Galilee wanted to hear and from which most of his disciples originated.. Many other (failed) so called "Messiahs' before and after Jesus had been military leaders on a mission to ride the holy land of the pagan Romans. And on the surface at least, in the four gospels we are presented with the wrong type of Messiah...... but scratch the surface and we can find a different Jesus altogether.

Stephen,

Your post #12 is well said with even more historical background to my poor Jesus having His disciples leave Him.  We can only wonder in how Jesus, AS GOD, felt when they left Him, but as we know, Jesus knew they were going to leave Him in the first place because Jesus is omniscient!

In whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things.” (1 John 3:20)

A travelling show.

Bang on Deb

In your own distinctive way.

I expect there was also a hairy woman and a dwarf.

And an apostle on stilts.

Well he certainly knew he was a wanted man from the time he made his well staged appearance in Jerusalem.
This was nothing short of an open challenge to temple authorities. With his knowledge of the so called prophesies of the OT about a King Messiah being sent to free the Jews, it was with the full knowledge of what he was doing, and he could have hardly fulfilled it unwittingly or through sheer coincidence. One could say it was staged to show for the first time that Jesus had actually acted the part- at least - like a king and Messiah.

Here  Jesus gives all his chosen supernatural powers. Would this be immediately after he had recruited them all or sometime after time?

Matthew 10:1–2 — The New International Version (NIV) 1 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness

Sometime after, I think. He started recruiting them in Matthew 4.
